ο σενάριο βασίζεται στην πραγματική ιστορία του Φιλίπ, ενός πλούσιου αριστοκράτη, ο οποίος έχοντας μείνει καθηλωμένος σε αναπηρικό καροτσάκι μετά από ένα ατύχημα με αλεξίπτωτο, επιλέγει για βοηθό του στην καθημερινότητα, τον Ντρίς, τον πιο απρόσμενο υποψήφιο, έναν πρόσφατα αποφυλακισμένο μαύρο νεαρό, από τις φτωχές συνοικίες στα προάστια του Παρισιού.
Δύο διαφορετικοί κόσμοι συναντιούνται και παρόλες τις διαφορές τους οι πρωταγωνιστές μοιράζονται μια αληθινή φιλία, κωμική και δυνατή, χαρίζοντας γέλιο αλλά και γνήσια συγκίνηση, με ένα θέμα που εκ πρώτης όψεως μόνο αστείο δεν φαντάζει.
