Instructions to the educator

Download and install QGIS 2.6.1 Brighton version: https://www.qgis.org/en/site/forusers/download.html.
Download and extract the following 6 (1 to 5 points) or 7 (1 to 6 points) compressed folders:

1. final_kallikratis: background layer that represents the current administrative divisions of Greece (entitled final_kallikraths.shp).

2. underwater_cables: the connections between islands by underwater cables (entitled underwater cables.shp).

3. final-ASP-MWh: the allocation of the TPPs; the annual electricity production of the 35 TPPs for the years 2011-2012 constitutes the Attribute Table of the specific layer (entitled final-ASP-MWh.shp).

4. final-ASP-tCO2 & final-ASP-tCO2monthly: both contain the allocation of the TPPs and their Attribute Tables are the annual and the monthly CO2 emissions time series, respectively (entitled final-ASP-tCO2.shp & ASP- tCO2monthly.shp).

5. final_grid: the layer needed to restrict the kriging results within the islands’ surfaces and not above the sea or across the Greek mainland (entitled final grid.shp).

6. islands (optional): this layer contains the names of the islands that do not have a Thermal Power Plant and they get electrified via underwater cables (entitled islands.shp).

This material represents all data needed to visualize the annual/monthly CO2 emissions from the oil combustion that takes place on the Thermal Power Plants of the Aegean non-interconnected islands for the years 2011 and 2012. To do so follow the Instructions to the educator, download the Further_guidance.

The data for the whole examined period (2000-2012) can not yet be available since this material and the corresponding electricity production database constitutes part of a doctoral thesis that is not yet completed.
