I still remember what it was like when time for listening activities came in class in the private school where I learnt English. The word that occurred to me immediately was ?No? but, of course, I never uttered it, partly because it was considered inappropriate for a student to object to their teacher?s choices thirty-five years ago but mostly because I felt ashamed at the thought that once more I might not be able to understand a word!
