The British Isles

The British Isles are a group of islands situated on the north-west side of Europe. Geographically, they are made up of two main islands, Great Britain and Ireland, and of over six thousand smaller ones.

Politically, however, the situation is more complicated. Two sovereign states are located on these two islands:

-The United Kingdom ,which consists of Great Britain (with England, Scotland and Wales) and Northern Ireland and

– The Republic of Ireland
