Rotation of a rod with two rings around a fixed axis

The rod is rotating around the fixed axis Oz which is perpendicular to the plane Oxy of the simulation. O is the middle point of the rod. The length of the rod is L=1.6. The ratio M/m of the rod-mass over the ring-mass and the position of the two rings-system are controlled by the user. The two rings have equal masses. They are connected with a massless wire of length 2r, where r=0.2. The initial frequency of the rotation is 1Hz.

The user can eliminate the wire connecting the rings by pressing the corresponding button.

The graph depicts the variation of the system-angular velocity with time.

By double-click on the simulation-environment or on the graph, the user can play or pause the simulation.
