Once you have logged in to the site you will notice that the left column of the site has changed to something like this.

At the top of every article that you have submitted (for the students) and at the top of every article on the site (for the teachers) there  will be an “edit item” link where you can edit the already existing articles.

The steps to add a new article is:

7. Write your article (or copy-paste it from a text document) in the big text box at the bottom of the page and format it with the tools above, just as you would do if you were working on an office suite.

Caution! When you are trying to paste a document the right click of your mouse and the paste command may not work. You can paste a document only with your keyboard shortcuts. In windows the keyboard shortcut for paste is CTRL+V.

Your article should be online under the category you chose before.Browse the site to locate the article and press the edit item link. In edit mode you can change the content of articles, upload images, upload videos, add attachments which other users can download and unpublish the articles.

Caution! When you unpublish an article, the article remains in our databases but users can’t see it. You can republish it whenever you want through your page link, in the user menu. User menu links - (IV.c. Adding a Read More Break (article edit mode))

A Read More break is the divider that shows a preview of your article. Everything above this break is the preview text; this text will be seen in the preview of the article as well as in the article itself. The content below the Read More break will only be seen if the article is clicked on. If you do not insert a Read More break, the whole article will be displayed. You generally do not want to do this, unless the article is just too short. The nice thing about inserting a Read More break is the fact that there are no option screens to go through. Once inserted into the article, the Read More break will look like a line that separates the intro text from the full text.of your article.

To insert a Read More break into your article just put your entry point at the exact position where you want to put that break and simply press the Read More button.

User menu links - (Insert a Pagebreak (article edit mode))

When you view an article, you can choose to have everything on one page, or put parts of the article on different pages. You can choose which parts to put on which page with pagebreaks. You can insert more than one pabebreaks into an article.

To insert a Page break into your article just put your entry point at the exact position where you want to put that break and simply press the PageBreak button. You will see a dialog box that looks like this.

The “Page Title” is the title that will be displayed at the top of that page of the article. The “Table of Contents Alias” is how that page will be shown in the table of contents of the article.

The Table of Contents with all of your pages, will automatically be generated at the top of the page and will be shown as different tabs, like the tabs in this tutorial.

When you are editing, they look just like a line that separates different parts of the article.

User menu links - (IV.d. Add images to an article (article edit mode))

If you want to upload a single image in you article, you can simply go to the image tab, browse your computer and upload the file. The image will be shown at top left corner of your article.

If you want to add a photo gallery to an article, please ask your teacher to e-mail me those photos-pictures through the e-twinning portal and let me know which article you want the gallery to be added to.

User menu links - (IV.e. Add videos  to an article (article edit mode))

To upload a video create an account on YouTube or any other free online video service, and upload it there. Once the upload is done, you should have a url for your uploaded video. It should look something like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4JD3Yf4ghY
or this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4JD3Yf4ghY&feature=related

Copy the 11 characters code between “watch?v=”  and “&”. In our example the 11 characters code is “H4JD3Yf4ghY”, which is the ID of the video

Now go to the article you want to edit and in edit mode select the Video Tab and then the video provider tab.

From the drop down list “Select video provider” choose YouTube and in the next text box paste the ID that you have previously copied. Click save and close that window.

Caution! To upload a video please use only the above method and never use the tabs upload, Browse server/use remote video or Embed which is under the general Video Tab.

User menu links - (IV.f. Add Attachments to an article (article edit mode))
