We are happy to announce you that our project was awarded the first prize in the Greek National eTwinning awards 2011! The Greek group attended the ceremony, which was held in the Greek Ministry of Education and presented the project “Young Poets Society” to all the attendees.

We should mention that we couldn't achieve this without our wonderful partners and their outstanding talent and creativity. We really wish all of them could be there, too, to share our joy.  As part of our presentation, we showcased some of our partners’ wonderful poems and we used the poem “Around the World” by Stefana from Romania to conclude our presentation. We believe that this piece of work, while being representative of the high quality of the material that the project participants produced, is special in that it illustrates that a strong friendship can be born through eTwinning projects. So, we dedicate this prize to our wonderful partners and we hope that we will soon get the chance to meet up!

As Konstantinos Cavafis so wisely points out in his poem “Ithaca” it’s not the destination that matters but the experience and the wisdom you gain during the journey to get there.  All of us are now wiser and feel more complete thanks to this wonderful poetic journey.

When you set out on your journey to Ithaca,
pray that the road is long,
full of adventure, full of knowledge.
The Lestrygonians and the Cyclops,
the angry Poseidon - do not fear them:
You will never find such as these on your path,
if your thoughts remain lofty, if a fine
emotion touches your spirit and your body.
The Lestrygonians and the Cyclops,
the fierce Poseidon you will never encounter,
if you do not carry them within your soul,
if your soul does not set them up before you.
Pray that the road is long.
That the summer mornings are many, when,
with such pleasure, with such joy
you will enter ports seen for the first time;
stop at Phoenician markets,
and purchase fine merchandise,
mother-of-pearl and coral, amber and ebony,
and sensual perfumes of all kinds,
as many sensual perfumes as you can;
visit many Egyptian cities,
to learn and learn from scholars.
Always keep Ithaca in your mind.
To arrive there is your ultimate goal.
But do not hurry the voyage at all.
It is better to let it last for many years;
and to anchor at the island when you are old,
rich with all you have gained on the way,
not expecting that Ithaca will offer you riches.
