LEVELS OF EDUCATION IN OUR SCHOOL
Primary education in Poland is divided into two stages-
lower primary and upper primary.
LOWER PRIMARY
Children start their school adventure at the age of 6 where
they go to the “Zero Class”- a preparatory class before
going to a regular school. Usually such “Zero Classes” are a
part of a kindergarten yet this school year the director of
our school opened such a department in our school building
also.
Our school “Zero Class” consists of 13 six year-olds. They
start their day at 8 o’clock and they discover the art of
writing, drawing, singing and having fun. They have a very
colorful room with plenty of toys, games and arts& crafts
materials. Their day finishes at about 1 o’clock. Those
whose parents work can go to a common room and have more fun
till 4 o’clock.
After finishing the “Zero Class” children start their
regular education. The first 3 years of their education is
called the lower primary. It differs from an upper primary a
lot.
In our school there are 4 classes of first year students, 3
of the second one and 3 of the third one. In every class
there are about 26 pupils.
Every class has their own teacher who takes care of their
education at every level for three years. Additionally
children have 2 religious classes 2 English lessons and 1
class of Computer Studies every week with different
teachers. Every class has their own classroom where they
spend all they.
Their teaching is based around specific topics like health,
holidays, family, our world etc and all the skills they
learn every day like reading, writing, maths.
UPPER PRIMARY
At the age of 10 students go to the fourth grade. Their
system of education changes. They start learning new
subjects and they don’t have classes with one teacher
only as every subject is taught by somebody else. They
don’t have their lessons in one classroom all day but
they have to move from one room to another.
Every class has its own counselor who is also one of
their teacher. The system of teaching changes too. The
students work more, take more tests, do projects and
become more aware of who they are. But of course they
also have a lot of fun!
