3rd
century
The
building activity, for the theater of Dionysus, starts
again around 340
ΒC
but there were no big changes just a reconstruction and redecoration
of the already existing building.
The koilon was separated downwards with cuneiform (sphenoid) unions (kerkides).
The wooden skene building has already been replaced by a stone construction. At the two sides of the central part, where there were three gates, there were two long sections in the form of an open lodged chapter. In the exterior side there was a staircase. Behind the scene there was a long stoa which was used as shed for the spectators and also as a store-room.
The parodies were closed with doors (pilones) at the theater of Epidaurus in the beginning. The function of the doors was religious so as the animals were prevented from going into and desecrating the place.
