This museum’s building alone is worth a look. Statues of beasts have been incorporated into its facade; and in the lobby, you will find charming stained-glass windows. Once part of the British Museum, the collections were transferred to this airy building in 1881. An incredible 70 million exhibits cover five main collections: plants, insects, prehistoric creatures, minerals and zoology. The most popular exhibits include the skeleton of Dippy the dinosaur (Diplodocus carnegeii) and the skeleton of a blue whale, lying alongside a model of the same huge creature.
