A typical weekday

My typical day is: I wake up at 7 o’clock in the morning, I have breakfast with my family and then I go to school. The school starts at 7.55 and finish at 12.50, but it finish at 12.05 in Saturdays. During the week, when I arrive at home, I have lunch with my father because my mom has to go at work. After lunch I go to sleep and when I wake up I do my homework or I  have to study if I have some assignment the next day. If  I don’t necessarily have to study, I usually spend my time surfing the net or hanging out with my friends. Usually I eat at 8 o’clock pm. After dinner I watch TV or a film. I go to bed at 10 or 11 o’clock, but if there is an interesting film to watch I can even go to bed later.

A Greek student’s day

First and foremost, the majority of students live near the school. Our school is located in Vrachneika which is a suburb of Patras.

As a 17 year-old student, I wake up at half past 7 and I have my breakfast (a bowl of cornflakes). As soon as I’m dressed, my mum drives me to school (most students walk or go by bus to school). Our school lessons begins at 8.15 (our schedule starts on Monday and ends on Friday). Every lesson lasts 45min and after the end of every lesson we have a 5-10min break. School ends at 1.50. Some of our subjects are Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Greek language, Ancient Greek, ICT, History, English, Latin and some others.

When lessons end, every student goes back home. I personally have my lunch at about half past 2. Then I relax for a few minutes so as to pull out the day’s pressure and stress. Moreover, Greek students are supposed to attend lessons at tutorial colleges which comprise a huge drawback of Greek education. As a student I need to attend such lessons. So, I take the bus to go to the city center half past 3 (15km far from Vrachneika) where the lessons are conducted. I spend approximately 3 hours in the tutorial college, including returning time.

When I come back home (at about 7) I play for an hour basketball (some play football, and girls play volleyball) with my friends and then I do my homework which takes me 2 hours. Then I just chill out and watch TV for a couple of hours. Finally, I have light dinner and at 12 I go to bed.

Now, when the weekend comes I have of course more time to relax and entertain myself. I usually go for a coffee either with my friends or with my girlfriend (boyfriend). Also, I spend a little time playing basketball, as I mentioned above. Apart from that, on Saturday night my friends and I go either in a club or to the cinema. But this Easter, all I want is visit Italy and meet you!!!
