TRAVELLING FROM GREECE TO ENGLAND

This 3-hour lesson was done with the use of the E-slate programme. (Choose English, Journey and then the map of Europe/England/London). Below you can see the worksheets I used with my students (A class, A Level). The whole lesson lasted three hours (1. Travelling from Greece to England, 2. Travelling around England,  3. Travelling around London). At the end, students were assigned the project "A 3-day trip to London" (you can see their project in the Projects section).

AIMS:

To train Ss work with maps (Europe, England, London), to read, understand and extract specific information out of a written text, to come in contact with the sights of London and the towns of England, to practise vocabulary related to travelling and sights/towns, to train Ss make a list with things used for journeys, to write a paragraph.

 

WORKSHEET 1

A)  What do we need to start for a journey (make a list) e.g. a suitcase (Pre-reading exercise)

B) Look at the map of Europe. Move your mouse over the countries to find their names and their capitals.(This activity lasted for 5 min. since it was the first time Ss were asked to do such a lesson and most of them had never used a mouse). Click on every country to find details and then answer the following:

  1. Which is the biggest country in Europe according to

b: population ................
