GEN-01LTV ALTERNATIVE CAMP BODRUM 01/05-30/10 SOCI 25
Alternative camp is a place for handicapped people both psychical and mental
and people with special needs of all kinds. Here all kind of sport programs,
social, educational and training activities are held. Thus it is a very challenging
and hard work. One can start any time and minimum stay is a month, up to 2 months.
Longer stays are negotiable with the camp management.
Volunteers are expected to assist all manual and social work organized at the
camp. You can also develop new activities depending on your talents. Interested
volunteers will be trained as dive-buddies for handicapped people with the standard
of HSA (Handicapped Scuba Association).
Candidates should have a strong motivation to work with handicapped people and
write a motivation letter including their experience (if any) and will to be
a part of a hard working team. No previous experience is necessary but a good
mood, good will is essential.
Work: Serving and assisting the handicapped people in their daily life at the
camp site, assisting the instructors during sport activities and courses, organizing
and running social activities, manual work concerning reparations, gardening,
cleaning, kitchen duties, shopping, leading groups for trekking and biking .
Accommodation: In triple rooms with bathroom. If you want, you can bring your
own tent and sleeping bag and sleep outside.
Qualifications: Volunteers talented on computers, sports, indoor & outdoor
activities, music, drama, fine arts, swimming and diving, handicrafts will be
preferred. Teachers of above mentioned fields and skippers for the camp boat
are needed especially. A motivation letter should be sent along with the application
form.
Food: Will be served at the centre.
Language: English, German & Italian. Turkish might be helpful but not necessary.

GEN-02LTV YOUTH CENTER Y. SAKRAN 01/05-30/10 MANU 3
3 longterm volunteers are needed at a sea-side located youth center for the
season for various tasks. Volunteers should stay at least one month up to 3
months. Parts of work are hard and need responsibility while the atmosphere
is relaxing.
W : There are different tasks for the different times. During April and May
volunteers will deal with the preparation of the center for the season. Gardening,
painting, carpentry and maintenance are the main work for this period. Between
June and October there will be children / teenage/ youth groups coming to the
center from Turkey & Germany. Then work will change to housekeeping, general
cleaning, helping in the kitchen, cooking, dish washing, life-guarding, wardening,
group leading, etc.
Accommodation: A private dormitory room for the volunteers will be supplied.
A sleeping bag is necessary.
Food: All meals will be supplied.
Language: Camp language is English. Turkish and German will be helpful but not
necessary. Any other language is welcome.
Qualifications: Volunteers must be over 20 years, able to communicate in English,
ready to work long hours in the high season and be ready for any type of the
tasks when requested. Male volunteers will be preferred for the first 2 months.

The newly established and seaside located youth center will host several children
/ teenage / youth groups. The first group will arrive as soon as the schools
are closed. GENCTUR will host a group of international volunteers as a pilot
project at this center.
Work: There are different tasks for the different times. However the main task
will be practicing English, leading groups for day trips, playing in-outdoor
games with the kids. Volunteers will be asked for housekeeping, general cleaning,
helping in the kitchen, cooking, dish-washing, life-guarding, wardening, gardening,
painting, carpentry and maintenance works when needed.
Accommodation: A private dormitory room for the volunteers will be supplied.
Sleeping bag & mat are necessary.
Food: All meals will be supplied.
Language: Camp language is English. Turkish will be helpful but not necessary.
Any other language is welcome.
Qualifications: Volunteers must be over 20 years, able to communicate in English,
feel responsible at all times, ready to work long hours and for any type of

Mudurnu is a small town with 5000 inhabitants and famous with its chicken production,
handicrafts and also with traditional Mudurnu houses for which the volunteers
will work.
Work:Painting the outside walls, window frames and doors of traditional houses.
As an alternative they can help for environmental development in a park of the
town.
Accommodation: In the unused sports complex of the town. Sleeping bag and mat
are necessary. F:Volunteers will cook their own food, using the given materials.

GEN-05 TEACH CAMP-1 DEVREK 01/07-15/07 TEACH 15
Devrek which is a big town famous for hand made, wooden walking sticks and hosted
volunteers to paint the classrooms of its high school in the past. This year,
volunteers will practise English with the high school students of 14 -17 years.
During the camp, volunteers will also have a chance to watch the activities
of the local "Cane Festival ".
Work: Practising English with the teenagers.
Accommodation: In a dormitory. The sleeping bag and mat are not necessary.
Food: Will be supplied at the dormitory.
Language: English.

The village clinic of Dedeler is planned to be a model in the area. The primary
school also needs some development work so they need a help of volunteers. This
small village with 300 inhabitants is a chicken producer.
Work: Environmental development work in the garden of the clinic and inside
or outside of the school like painting and gardening.
Accommodation: In the school, sleeping bag and mat are necessary.
Food: Will be supplied at a nearby dining hall.
Language: English
Location: Dedeler is a small village in the northwest of Turkey. The nearest
city is Bolu.
Terminal: Istanbul. As there is only one bus early in the morning, all volunteers
must arrive in Istanbul 1 day before the camp and spend 1 night in a youth hostel
at a cost of 10 EURO with breakfast.
GEN-08 EUPHRATES KEBAN 11/07-25/07 RENO 15
Euphrates is one of the longest rivers of Turkey which runs to Iraq where it
meets the Tigris river. There are several dams on Euphrates which collects the
water for electricity and irrigation. Keban is a town on Euphrates and has a
vocational high school which need some help for environmental development works
like gardening, creating a sport hall for the students, etc.
Work: Transforming an old building into a sport hall, working in the garden
of the high school, planting flowers at the green houses.
Accommodation: In the boarding house of the school. Sleeping bag and mat are
not necessary.
Food: Will be supplied at the school.
Language: English.
Location: Keban is at the east of Turkey. Nearest city is Elazig.

Sapanca is a lakeside town where GENÇTUR had a manual workcamp last year. This
year the work of the volunteers will be social. The town will host young people
from all over the world and volunteers will practise English with the high school
students of the town who are 14-17 years. Volunteers need not to be a native
speaker but must have a good level of English. A motivation letter must be sent
with the application form.
Work: Practising English with the teenagers.

Caydegirmeni, is a small town with 4000 inhabitants, on the motor way between
two big cities. The garden of the old primary school of the town needs to be
rearranged.
Work: Development work in the garden of the school.
Accommodation: In the lodgement of the primary school. The sleeping bag and
mat are necessary.
Food: Will be prepared by the volunteers in the kitchen of the scouts who will
be there during the workcamp.

This is a suitable camp for creative people who are interested in photography,
sculpture, graphic, drawing, painting and handicrafts as well as the amateur
or skilled artists of the arts mentioned above.
People who like to share experience and learn from each other are welcome. Sight
seeing tours, jeep safaris, excursions, dia shows are being organized during
the workshops.
Work: No manual work. Workshops will be held in the fields of arts mentioned
above.
Accommodation: Under tents. Sleeping bag and mat are necessary. Tents are supplied
but you can also bring your own if you want privacy.
Food: Will be served in a restaurant, open buffet.
Language: English.
Location: Fethiye is by the south Aegean Sea coast. The camp-site Kayakoy is
a small village and an ancient Greek settlement. Nearest city is Mugla. Fee
: An extra fee of EURO 300.- will be charged on arrival to cover the cost of

Help to Turkey Foundation of Utrecht had built a primary school in a safe small
town after the 1999 earthquake in the area. Now it is the time for some renovation.

helping some of the environmental development works in the garden.

The waterfall which is the main drinking water source of the next town, borns
in the small Ulukaya village and meets another river in the village. They create
a nice environment around. The locals are mainly old and hospitable people.
A picnic ground around the riverside is planned to be organized.
Work: Volunteers will help to create a recreation area around the river like
pedestrian roads, bases for sitting groups, etc.
Accommodation: Not in the village itself but in a student dormitory in the next
town. The group will be transferred daily to the working area.
Food: Breakfast and dinner will be supplied in the dormitory, lunches in the
village.

YIBO is a regional boarding school next to Tomarza town where 500 pupils are
hosted for their primary school education. The school has got 3 big buildings
and a large garden. Volunteers are expected to work in the buildings and at
the garden of the school.
Work: Greening and grass laying in the garden, painting the indoor walls of
the school , repairing the roof and the tiles.
Accommodation: In the boarding school.

Koycegiz is very well known town by its lake and shores where the Caretta turtles
lay their eggs. The high school of Koycegiz town is quite active. It has got
a sister school from Greece, has got an orchestra and hosts several activities.
This year the international volunteers will add another colour to the school
activities.
Work: Volunteers will paint the classrooms and corridors of the school.

Sabanci University which is located at a far distance from the city center,
encourages its students to be actively involved in the NGOs and community services.
This camp is a project of the university students and will be led by them. But
any contribution from the volunteers is welcome.
Work: Organizing social activities with and for the kids.
Qualifications: Volunteers who have got experience on working with kids or who
are really motivated are needed to practice English, teaching games, songs,
creative drama, handicrafts, fine arts, etc. A motivation letter should be sent

Young people with musical talents are invited to create a concert at the end
of the camp by rehearsing during the camp. Anyone who can play an instrument
is welcome. But as we need limited number of person for each instrument the
earlier applicants will have more change to get a place in the camp. KYÖD, a
student association of Kocaeli city which will host the project.
Work: Playing music and learning Turkish music.

The mayor of Gerede intends to give a better and artistic looking to the ugly
looking electrick supply buildings in the town. Thus Gerede town will host a
group of volunteers who are talented on drawing and painting in order to change
the facadesof those building by art.

The governorship of Osmaniye is going to host around 50 young students from
the city, for a special 2 weeks holiday at a youth center by the lake. This
holiday will offer a great opportunity for the students to meet foreign young
people, to practise English and to learn about each other's countries and cultures.
Volunteers will encourage the local youth to speak English through daily activities
like sports, in-outdoor games, discussions, info days, competitions, arts and
crafts, music, etc. Experience with teenagers will be a plus. As there are 2
camps at the same site, it is possible to participate in both camps and stay
for a month.
Work: Practising English with local youth.
Accommodation: At the youth center, in dormitories for 4 people. Sleeping bag

Palu is a town by the Murat River. The central street of the town will be pawed

Cubuk is a hospitable small village by a small lake whose primary school need
to be renovated. This workcamp will fit for the volunteers who like to fish
and to take the photos of nature (so, don't forget your fishing lines &
cameras.

Sivrice is a small town with 5000 inhabitants by Hazar Lake. The boarding premises
of a primary school in the town will host 15 vols who are going to paint building
while enjoying the lake scenery.
Work: Painting all the rooms and corridors of the school building.

Anyone against bush, can join in this camp as the volunteers are going to clear
the ground of the village cemetery from the bushes. The cemetery was surrounded
by a fence last year and its yard need to be cleared this year.
Work: Cutting and removing bushes and extract the roots from the cemetery.

Tut is a small town of Adiyaman province which is famous for the giant king
sculptures at Mount Nemrut where tousands of tourists are visiting to watch
the best sun rise in the world. A primary school in the town needs to be painted
from the top to the bottom. Volunteers will have a chance to visit Mt. Nemrut
while painting the school.
Work: Painting all the rooms and corridors of the school building.

Sakarya is on of the big cities which was badly affected by the earthquake in
1999. Many schools have been destroyed because of the earthquake and new ones
were built right after in safe areas. EN-KA company established a private school
where its foundation covers all the costs of the school and students.

Partner: This is the first time that we organize an international voluntary
workcamp with Gorece Municipality.
Work: During the camp the volunteers will take part in the renovation of public
parks as well as some practical environmental work. Volunteers will be working
5 hours a day and there will be no work during the weekends.
Food & Accommodation: In the cafeteria / in a guest house
Location: Gorece, is a peaceful place to visit where you can taste both the
village and the city life. The village people produce the world famous blue
bead which is worn to avert the evil eye due to the ancient Greek mythology.
It is only 20 minutes from Izmir city centerand very close to many historical
places and natural beauties such as Cesme, where you can see the perfect beaches;
Kusadas?, with its very live city life and deepest blue sea; Pergamum; Virgin
Mary; Ephesus; etc…

Partner: We have been organizing work camps with the Mut Municipality since
2000. The inhabitants are very motivated to host such an international event
in their small town.
Work: During this camp the volunteers will take part in the renovation of an
old building which belongs to municipality. In 2000 the renovation work has
been started by international volunteers and at the end the building will become
a cultural center. Volunteers will work 5 hours a day and there is no work during
the weekends.
Food & Accommodation: self catering / in a pension
Location: Located 165km far away from Mersin, one of the biggest cities and
an important port of Turkey. Mut is a village surrounded by mountains and high
plateaus. The region hosts Turkomans, still living with their old traditions
in the high plateaus. This Mediterranean village will welcome the volunteers
by very interesting customs of Turkomans, wedding ceremonies, natural beauties
and historical sites

of the Turkish Republic. Today’s modern city, situated at the core of Anatolia,
hides an ancient site behind, dating back even to prehistorical times. METU,
one of the biggest universities of Turkey, has been recognized as the most competitive
and outstanding university in Turkey with 20.000 students. With its town like
campus, it is located 15 minutes far away from the city center.

Partner: We have been organizing workcamps in cooperation with Culture and Art
Association of Bademler Village since 2000.
Work: The inhabitants would like to have a sculpture in their village made by
the international group. During the camp the volunteers will take part in the
creation of the sculpture with an artist. Motivation Letter is highly requested!
Volunteers will work 5 hours a day and there is no work at the weekends.
Food & Accommodation: family stay / food will be provided by the host families
Location: Bademler Village is one of the most interesting villages in Turkey,
with its culture and very typical customs. It is 10kms to Urla and 60kms to
Izmir. In 1969 the theatre hall of the village was constructed and up today
all the inhabitants are very much interested in theatre both as audiences and
actors. This village is also famous for its very typical wedding ceremonies.

Location: Konya one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities, rank as one
of the great cultural centers of Turkey. Cultural and philosophical growth,
the mystic Mevlana, known as the Whirling Dervishes has lived and spread his
thoughts in/from Konya. Mausoleum of Mevlana is one of the most famous places
in Konya. Selcuk University with its good campus facilities is located 15 minues
far away from the city center.

Partner: Since 2002, we have been organizing workcamps in cooperation with KGM-Kadikoy
Youth Center. The youth center is supported by Kadikoy Municipality.
Work: During the camp the volunteers will take part in some practical environmental
work in the public parks. Volunteers will work 5 hours a day and there is no
work during the weekends.

Work: During this camp the volunteers will take part in some practical environmental
work in the campus area such as planting, flowering, gardening etc. Volunteers
will work 5 hours a day and there is no work during the weekends.

Location: Isparta is one of the prettiest cities in the Mediterranean region,
full of fragrant roses and beautiful lakes of peaceful waters. It is surrounded
by impressive caves. Isparta leaves a big impression on the visitors with its
Egidir Lake, which is one of the most famous lakes for its various kinds of
butterflies, its Selcuk fortress, its Byzantine churches and its ancient city
of Antiocheia as well as its ruins of the Bayat.

Work: During this camp the volunteers will take part in the construction of
a public park in town. Volunteers will be working 5 hours a day and there will
be no work during the weekends.
Food & Accommodation: In a restaurant / in a guest house.
Location: Urla, named Clazomenea in the ancient days, is a peaceful place to
visit where you can taste the natural and historical beauties of Cesme Peninsula.
It’s only 30 minutes from Izmir. Urla is surrounded by many historical places
and natural beauties such as Cesme, where you can see the perfect beaches; Kusadas?,
with its very live city life and deepest blue sea; Pergamum; Virgin Mary; Ephesus;
etc…

Partner: We have been organizing work camps in cooperation with the Mersin Municipality

Work: During this camp the volunteers will take part in the renovation of public
parks and in addition in some practical environmental works such as planting,
grassing etc. Volunteers will work 5 hours a day and there is no work during
the weekends.
Food & Accommodation: In a restaurant / in the guest house.
Location: Mersin is one of the most modern provinces with palm - lined avenues
and a good base for visiting the nearby historical sites and beaches. It’s also
the largest port of the Turkish Mediterranean. One may find all the comforts
of a big city and all the characteristics of a Mediterranean city. Although
Mersin dates from the 19th century, it occupies extremely ancient cities.

Location: Ephesus proudly houses one of the seven ancient wonders of the world,
the Temple of Artemis. The city is dedicated to her and has many fascinating
buildings. The city still retains its importance but this time as the most important
archeological and historical city in Turkey. The town of Selcuk is close to
Ephesus and is crowded with a Byzantine citadel and the basilica of St. John.
This lovely Aegean town with its historical site is from 1 hour distance from
Izmir.

Work: During this camp the volunteers will take part in the construction of
a public park. Volunteers will be working 5 hours a day and there will be no

Location: Mersin is one of the most modern provinces with palm - lined avenues
and a good base for visiting the nearby historical sites and beaches. It’s also
the largest port of the Turkish Mediterranean. One may find all the comforts
of a big city and all the characteristics of a Mediterranean city. Yenisehir
is one the suburb of Mersin and one may easily taste the life of a Mediterranean
city life.

GSM15 DALYAN / MUGLA 14/8-29/8 ENVI/RENO 18
Partner: This is the first time that we organize an international voluntary
workcamp with Dalyan Municipality and EKAD-Ecological Research Association which
is working with caretta caretta turtles.
Work: During the camp the volunteers will take part in practical environmental
work such as cleaning the beach and channels of Dalyan. In addition they will
be involved in artistic wall painting in the village. The volunteers will also
have the chance of joining the bio-diversity activities organized by EKAD. Volunteers
will be working 5 hours a day and there will be no work during the weekends.
Food & Accommodation: In a cafeteria / in a hotel
Location: This lovely Aegean village is a nature and wild life preserve and
is a real paradise with its rare and beautiful setting and with a history going
back to 3500BC. It is possible to cruise over the natural labyrinth-like channel,
walled with reeds, that link sea and Lake Koycegiz, which is described as “smooth
as glass” till noon and suitable for windsurfing in the afternoon. Dalyan can
be reached at the end of a road decorated with scented frankincense trees. The
Dalyan Delta is a unique and under preserve site, lying peacefully with its
golden beach. Sea turtles of caretta caretta and blue crabs live here making
the area more attractive.
