We may finally know what a healthy gut microbiome looks like

New Scientist - Space - Wed, 10/12/2025 - 19:35
Our gut microbiome has a huge influence on our overall health, but we haven't been clear on the specific bacteria with good versus bad effects. Now, a study of more than 34,000 people is shedding light on what a healthy gut microbiome actually consists of

Erratum for the Research Article “Impairment of stromal-epithelial regenerative cross-talk in Hirschsprung disease primes for the progression to enterocolitis” by Z. Zhang et al. | Science Translational Medicine

In the Research Article “Impairment of stromal-epithelial regenerative cross-talk in Hirschsprung disease primes for the progression to enterocolitis” by Z. Zhang et al., there were inadvertent image duplications in Figs. 4F, 6F, and S7. In Fig. 4F, the Lgr5 smFISH staining of 3-week wild-type and Ednrb−/− mouse colon was inadvertently duplicated from the 2-week group shown in Fig. 3H. In Fig. 6F, the 40× image for HSCR colostomy rectum stained for PDGFRα/MMP1/DAPI did not match the corresponding 10× image. In fig. S7, the image representing HSCR-derived organoids on day 0 was incorrect and duplicated from the images shown in Fig. 7J. Figures 4F and 6F and fig. S7 have been updated with the correct images. The other data and the conclusions in the paper are not affected.
