‘Greeks for Trump’ Hold White House Meeting
A delegation from Greeks for Trump visited the White House on March 25, to commemorate Greek Independence Day and highlight the enduring ties between the Greek-American community and the US Government.
Led by Greeks for Trump Co-Chairs Congressman Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) and Christos Marafatsos, the delegation included prominent figures from business, faith, and public service. Discussions focused on strengthening economic collaboration, advocating for religious freedom, and reinforcing shared values between Greece and the United States.
“The visit underscored the group’s ongoing support for Trump and his policies, with participants expressing appreciation for his past initiatives benefiting the Greek-American community,” noted Christos Marafatsos.
The delegation also engaged with senior White House staff, including representatives from the Office of the President, the Office of the Vice President, Political Affairs, Public Liaison, Legislative Affairs, and the Office of Science & Technology. Officials from the U.S. Trade Representative’s office were also present.
Attendees extended special thanks to key figures such as Alina Habba, James Blair, US Ambassador to Turkey, Tom Barrack, and Sebastian Gorka for their role in fostering dialogue and maintaining a strong relationship with the Greek-American community.
Greek Independence Day, celebrated annually on March 25, marks Greece’s struggle for independence from the Ottoman Empire in 1821. The White House has traditionally recognized the occasion, reflecting the deep historical and diplomatic ties between Greece and the United States.
Trump Hosts Greek Independence Day Celebration at the White House
A day earlier, on March 24, President Donald Trump hosted a special event at the White House to celebrate Greek Independence Day with representatives from Greek-American organizations and church officials, highlighting the strong historical and cultural ties between Greece and the United States.
The Trump administration has maintained strong ties with the Greek-American community. Upon taking the podium, Trump addressed the audience, saying, “We love you all.” His remark was followed by a warm greeting of the Greek and Cypriot ambassadors to Washington.
Trump went on to praise the contributions of Greek-Americans in his administration, highlighting that while the world was facing challenges, things have improved under his leadership. He expressed gratitude to the Greek-Americans working in his administration.
He also acknowledged the enduring legacy of the Greek-American community, adding, “Perhaps the greatest gift we have inherited from that amazing culture is our incredible Greek-American community that is now more than three million.”
