Jarno Opmeer and Bari Broumand take victory in Rounds 10 and 11 of F1 Sim Racing World Championship

Attentions then turned to Round 11, with the drivers readying themselves to tackle Qatar’s Lusail International Circuit for the penultimate race of the championship – and this time it was Broumand who clinched pole position in Qualifying, ahead of Ronhaar and Rasmussen.

It was a tough start to the race for Ronhaar – who slipped backwards to P5 on the opening lap – while Broumand maintained the lead from team mate Nicolas Longuet, the Frenchman having surged forwards from fourth on the grid.

But as the first pit stops started to play out, Ronhaar opted for a different strategy to many of the frontrunners by running the hard tyres for a longer first stint, giving him the lead for a time. After eventually pitting on Lap 18 of 29, the Dutchman slotted into P15 and embarked on a battle to make his way back to the front.

In a thrilling late-race scrap, Ronhaar made his way past Broumand for second before dramatically taking P1 from Longuet on the final tour to seal the victory, forcing the Ferrari pair to settle for second and third, while Fahssi, Opmeer and Rasmussen completed the top six.

However, there was a post-race twist when Ronhaar was handed a one-second time penalty, dropping him down to fourth which promoted Broumand to the win.

It remains all to play for entering into the title-deciding Round 12; Opmeer carries a 21-point lead over Ronhaar – with Fahssi in third – in the Drivers’ standings, while the Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing squad lead the Teams’ championship by 52 points from the Ferrari HP Esports Team.

Event 3 of the 2025 F1 Sim Racing World Championship will conclude with Round 12 at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, with Qualifying set to take place on Thursday at 1700 UTC followed by the race at 2000 UTC.
