BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA
BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA
Ambassador?s name: ANGELIDOY SOFIA
Your Excellency the Secretary General, Mr/Ms President, fellow Delegates, dear Guests,
Dobro Vece
Good afternoon
The Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina was admitted as a member of the United Nations by the General Assembly resolution of the 22nd May 1992.
Bosnia-Herzegovina has seen much conflict and our people have lived through turbulent times. From the early kingdoms, the ottoman and Austro-Hungarian empires and the formation and break-up of Yugoslavia to our current free democracy, conflict has been an underlying theme.
Although we are a poor, landlocked, agriculturally-based country with a transitional economy, we are at the heart of Europe, and want to play a greater part in European and global structures.
Bosnia-Herzegovina is honoured to serve on this conference on critical issues all countries face nowadays. We are here to discuss and explore ways of action for the vulnerable areas of human rights, sex equality in work as well as improvements and positive developments in respect of religious Freedom.
We call on all those countries present here today to work together on a common basis and meaningfully benefit global peace and security.
The Bosnian-Herzegovinian delegation would like to wish you all a fruitful debate during these two days
Thank you for your attention
We yield the floor back to the president
