A. Questions Answered by Typing

In hot pepper there are 4 kinds of questions which are ansered by typing
  1. Misspelled typing Spelling mistakes are forgiven (double consonants). Can have many correct answers. It is OK for the pupil to type just one of them
  2. Strict typing Spelling mistakes are not forgiven. Can be Case sensitive and also can be declared that It's a Number. Can have many correct answers. It is OK for the pupil to type just one of them
  3. Misspelled typing - many answers Same as the previous case (1), but here the pupil must answer typing ALL (or some) of the correct answers
  4. Strict typing - many answers Same as the previous case (2), but here the pupil must answer typing ALL (or some) of the correct answers
In questions, which need typing, it is useful to have some notion of what Regular Expressions is.

B. Questions Answered by Typing - Misspelled Typing

The adjacent picture shows a classic question, which must be answered by typing.
  • We expect from the pupil to write DALI, but we also want to accept Dali, dali, dalli and other versions with double consonants. We call this kind of typing Misspelled
  • We must also expect, some pupils to answer writing the first name of the painter, Salvador. Is this an acceptable answer? If we believe so, then we must also accept it.
  • We will not accept 'Salvador Dali' because the question insists in one word

C. Questions Answered by Typing - Strict Typing

The adjacent picture shows a question, which must be answered by typing. Spelling mistakes are not forgiven (see the message)
  • We expect from the pupil to write DALI, but we also want to accept Dali, dali and other combinations of these 4 letters. We call this kind of typing Strict
  • The same applies for the SALVADOR

D. Questions Answered by Typing - Strict Typing - Case Sensitive

The adjacent picture shows a question, which must be answered by typing. Spelling mistakes are not forgiven. The answer is case sensitive (see the message)
  • We expect from the pupil to write exactly DALI, not Dali, not dali no other combinations of these 4 letters
  • The same applies for the SALVADOR

E. Questions Answered by Typing - Strict Typing - It's a Number

The adjacent picture shows a question, which must be answered by typing. The answer must be a number.
  • We expect from the pupil to write 3,14
  • Any number rounded to 3,14 is also accepted. Eg 3,142 3,139
  • Not accepted are the numbers 3,145 or 3,134
  • For the decimal delimiter can be used either the dot (.) or the coma (,)

F. Questions Answered by Typing - Misspelled Typing, Many

The adjacent picture shows a question, which must be answered by typing. The pupil has to write 4 answers.
  • We expect from the pupil to write SPAIN & PORTUGAL & ANDORRA & GIBRALTAR
  • The order is not important
  • If the answers are one word in length (as in this example) then the ampersand symbol (&) is not really needed. It has a meaning when the answers are 2 or more words in length, like New York or Rio de Janeiro
  • The adjacent answer of the pupil will be evaluated as Correct
  • The answer SPAIN & PORTUGAL & ANDORRA & GIBRALTAR & FRANCE will be also evaluated as Correct
  • The answer SPAIN & PORTUGAL & ANDORRA will be evaluated as Partially correct (75%)
