Letters to penfriends

A few days ago, the students finished and sent the second batch of letters to their Portuguese friends. Some of them even prepared and enclosed a March bracelet.

In Greece, there is a tradition which involves weaving a bracelet from white and red string on the first day of March and wearing it till the end of summer. It’s called ‘Martis’ (March) and is condidered to help protect the wearer’s skin from the strong Greek sun.

‘My School, My Town, My Life’

eTwinning is the community for schools in Europe. It promotes school collaboration through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) by providing support, tools and services for schools.

Our school is currently involved in an e-Twinning programme called ‘My School, My Town, My Life’. The students of 4th, 5th and 6th grade will learn about other cultures and lifestyles by exchanging letters and making video/photo projects about their school, interests, family, town, etc. The partner schools are in Italy and Portugal

Aims:
We would like to learn about differences and similarities between the two countries. Students will have the opportunity to learn about each other, school days, life and place where they live. The project will broaden their horizons and will give them the chance to make new friendships.
Work process:
Students are involved in different activities all over the school year. 
Activities 
1) Exchanging introduction letters and Christmas cards to get to know each other. The students can write about themselves, what they like, their daily lives, their week, their family and friends. 
2) A video/photo presentation about school, students, lessons, breaks and other interesting events.
3) A video/photo presentation about the students’ town & the best places to visit in their region/country.
Expected results:
Students will make friends in other countries, they will learn about lifestyles and culture and practise language, communication and ICT skills.
