Mountains - Oregon adventures abound! Oh wow, a whale! I heard my partner exclaiming away from motel room. I wondered where in the world she was and what sort of prank she was pulling as her voice drifted in through a window. I put in a state in the place, trying to find several more winks after our night time trip down the Oregon coast. The children voices chimed in with hers, back behind our hotel room someplace, exclaiming about their first sitings of whales - out there. Stunning awake, I realized they were referring to true whales, and were calling me to get out there before they were missed by me - no kidding concerned! A good thing I moved too, because I had never seen anything like this in my lifetime. I certainly never anticipated to be therefore lucky with this jaunt we mountain folks from Montana had taken up to the Oregon coast. The third day we gathered up our things, pulled the children out of the pool, and continued our pursuit of the yurts and huts of the Pacific northwest. Within a brief stop-over at Beverly Beach we examined the wonderful yurts of the Oregon Parks program, checking out a yurt they had put in place for van leases. That was certainly a product for future research on some return visit to the region - a yurt on the Pacific coast - imagine that.
