The
British Museum, founded in 1753, is one of the greatest museums of the
world, showing the works of man from prehistoric times to the present day. There
are permanent displays of antiquities from: Egypt,
Western Asia, Greece and Rome as
well as the Prehistoric and
Romano-British, Medieval, Renaissance Modern and Oriental Collections.
Curiosity seekers could move into this grand pile and never tire of all that it
has to offer, from the Rosetta stone to the Mildenhall Treasure. The
pick-of-the-peak, of course, are the beautiful and ancient Parthenon Marbles
