The Great Pyramid Of Giza, is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza Necropolis, and is the only remaining member of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It is believed the pyramid was built as a tomb for Fourth dynasty Egyptian King Khufu and was constructed over a 20-year period concluding around 2560 BC. The Great Pyramid was the tallest man-made structure in the world for over 3,800 years. It is thought that, the Great Pyramid was 146.6 meters, but with erosion and the loss of its pyramidion, its current height is 138.8 meters. The total mass of the pyramid is estimated at 5.9 million tones. The volume including an international hillock, is believed to be roughly 2,500,000 cubic meters. Based on these estimates building this in 20 years would involve installing aproximatly 800 tonnes of stone every day.  Manetho gives Khufu a reign of 65 years. This would enable him to build the pyramid by installing aproximatly 250 tonnes of stone per day. The first precision measurements of the pyramid were done by Egyptologist Sir Flinders Petrie in 1880–82 and published as The Pyramids and Temples of Gizeh. Almost all reports are based on his measurements. Petrie found the pyramid is oriented 4' west of North and the second pyramid is similarly oriented. Many of the casing stones and interior chamber blocks of the great pyramid were fit together with extremely high precision. Based on measurements taken on the north eastern casing stones, the mean opening of the joints are only 1/50th of an inch wide.

The pyramid of Cheops is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza Necropolis bordering what is now Cairo, and it is the only remaining member of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. One theory suggested by the Greeks, posits that slaves were forced to work until the pyramid was done. This theory is no longer accepted in the modern era. Egyptologists believe that the Great Pyramid was built by ten of thousands of skilled workers who camped near the pyramid and worked for a salary or as a form of paying taxes. It is believed the pyramid was built as a tomb for a Fourth dynasty Egyptian king Khufu (Cheops in greek) and constructed over a  20 year period concluded around 2560 BC. The Great Pyramid was the tallest man-made structure in the world for over 3800 years. Originally, the great pyramid was covered by casing stones that formed a smooth outer surface and what it is seen today  is the underlying core structure some of the casing stones that once covered the structure can still be seen around the base. There have been varying scientific and alternative theories regarding the construction's techniques. Most accepted construction theories are based on the idea that it was built by moving huge stones from a quarry and dragging and lifting them into place. It is thought that at  construction, The Great Pyramid was 280 Egyptian royal cubits tall, 146, 6 meters but with the erosion and the loss of its pyramidion its current height is 138, 8 meters. It is a little known that its base is not a perfect square but a 4 pointed star.

The pyramid of Cheops which is also known as the ‘Great Pyramid’ in the necropolis is one of the oldest, the biggest and the most famous pyramid of Giza. It is located and built in Egypt by the Pharaoh of the fourth dynasty of Egyptians. It took them 30 years for the completion of this great monument and 100.000 work-slaves were needed. The pyramid has a height of 146.60 metres and the calculated weight is 6.5 million tones. The area where the Sarcophagus of Pharaoh was, had a height of 5 metres. By the help of corridors and rooms, there was an easy penetration into the main room, where the sarcophagus was prevented. And finally the Larnaca, in which was the mummy of Pharaoh, was from pink granite. This amazing monument which is  included in the Seven Wonders of the world is admired for its greatness by the visitors of Egypt.

The pyramid of Cheops, with a vast complex of smaller pyramids for the Queens, as well as the other two slightly smaller pyramids of Kafre, with the famous Great Sphinx and Mykerin, form the great monuments of Giza.
