Perched on the top of a green hill (350m high), Puylaurens has an opened view over the Lauragais area, Black mountains, and Pyrenees. Fortified with ancient ramparts, on this workcamp you will restore and breath new life into these classic ruins. You might also help to mobilise the local population on this magnificent patrimony
In July you will also bring a help and a dynamics to the team of local unemployed people who are working there all year round.

Location: This workcamp is 50 km away from Toulouse, 22 km from Castres and 14km from Revel where you can swim in the famous St Ferreol lake. Many local fetes take place in the surrounding villages and there are many typical small markets…There is also a swimming pool in the village.

Located in a green area, at the feet of the Black mountain, Villeneuve Minervois will charm you as soon as you will arrive there. With its charms and incontestable treasures, this municipality will attract you by its climate, its numerous places of interest, its wines and the other regional products. This village wishes to fit out a natural place in an environmental space, while respecting the nature and the present wealth on the site. This project will not only allow to help in the realisation of the site but also to develop the awareness of the local population of their local natural patrimony and of the environmental protection.
Work: Restoration of dry stone walls, restoration of a " Capitelle" (shepherd hut), clearing out the remains present on the site by selective sorting
Location: This workcamp is located 15 min from Carcassonne, 50 min from the Mediterranean Sea.
You will have the opportunity to discover the natural resources of this region: the castle, the dolmens, the capitelles, the Windmill … Discover Carcassonne and its medieval town, the caves of Limousis and Cabrespine and the Cathar castles of Lastours …

Servies is a small village located in Tarn Department at the edge of a river on a hill. Different works were initiated to value of this small village. There is still some work to do and the municipality not only wants to host you not only to help them to continue the works but also to bring an international dynamic to the local population and an appreciation of its small patrimony
Work: Restoration of stone walls (de-plastering and rejoining stone with lime)
Location: this workcamp is located 20km from Castres and 60km from Toulouse. Different possibilities of hiking or riding shall give you the opportunity to discover the nature and the countryside around. Discovery of cultural sites: Lautrec, Albi, Sidobre …is also possible. Many local fetes in the villages around will be the occasion to know and share the French culture. Exchanges with other workcamps present at the same time will allow you to meet many volunteers from all over the world.

CBF10 MONCLAR DE QUERCY 02/08-23/08 12 Vol. CONS
Small rural town, perched on the last hills of "bas - Quercy", Monclar gives the impression to catch not to slide. In the past fortified, with an agitated/eventful history, Monclar had a big feudal Castle which was partially destroyed in the past. Today the castle does not exist any more. The municipality wishes to host an international summer workcamp to realise a wooden fence which will remind the fortifications of the castle.
The aim of this project is to make the silhouette of these fortifications visible from a long way, to hide the water tank and create a touristic place: orientation table, footpath….
Location: If you like the nature, you will have the opportunity to go for walks around the lake.
There are a lot of sites not to be missed: Gorges de l'Aveyron, Cordes Sur Ciel, St Antonin Noble Val, Forest of Gresigne…. Leisure centre and various spot animations

CBF11 CARMAUX 09/08-30/08 10 Vol. KIDS
The fete committee of CARMAUX city will be pleased to welcome you for the very first time this year to give a help to the organisation and the animation of "St Privat" fete, the local fete of Carmaux: construction of chariots, arrangements in the city for the fete, stands installation, advertising and animation of the games for children will be the program of this workcamp. You will also have the possibility to organise some kind of ancient games for child, like in ground fathers time: running in bags, inter-village games….
In parallel you will work on a project called the "open school". About forty pupils (11-15 years old) of the CARMAUX school participate in the "school open" during 2 and a half weeks in August. In the morning they have lessons and in the afternoon, they have leisure time activities. You will have the opportunity to lead animations for these youngsters focused on Europe, on your respective countries, your culture, gastronomy, etc. You can also join these teenagers on some activities like: swimming pool, speleo, kayak, visits of museum, etc…

CBF14 CAMARGUE 07/08-29/08 12 Vol. ENVI
This workcamp will take place in ‘Marais du Vigueirat’, a natural site under protection. The work will be : Construction of a built cistern, building a recovery system of rainwater's which will provide water for the house of the guides of the site. This workcamp is rather technical, construction of a surrounding wall, iron framework, concrete, plaster.
The program of activity will focus on the environmental protection and the sustainable development.
This workcamp is in an ornithological reserve where there is opportunity for bird watching in their natural environments such as Flamingos, lesser kestrels, rollers, bee eaters, buzzards…..
Location: The Camargue is a place rich in traditions: cowherds and horses, bulls. It's nearby Arles, a Gallo Roman town which has magnificent monuments, inheritance of 2000 years of history (7 are classified by UNESCO in the world patrimony of the humanity).
Specific info: High protection sun cream and mosquito repellent are essential!

This workcamp takes place in a hamlet perched on the top of a mountain near Castellane in the Gorges du Verdon.
The region offers different possibilities of nature, cultural and sportive activities. The Craftsmen of Chasteuil (artists, painters and sculptors) will invite you to share their activities.
Location: Chasteuil is located 7 km far away from Castellane. It's a small hamlet dominated by magnificent rocks, and a gigantic chalk cliff with a height of 184m is situated midway on the path between the Alps and Mediterranean,

CBF16 RISTOLAS 07/08-29/08 12 Vol. RENO
The workcamp will allow you to develop competence in dry stones construction. It will take place in Ristolas located in the natural park of Queyras (High Alps). This site offers many opportunities for nature and sporting activities
In 1948 the hamlet of l'Echalp was partially destroyed by an avalanche which carried a part of a wooden irrigation canal away.
The wish of the inhabitants of the nature park of Queyras is to restore this little canal which is a very special part of the local heritage and greatly valued by the residents. The end of the work will hopefully see the canal in action, working once more.
The inhabitants of Ristolas wish to make the young people participate in the life of their village and help them discover their culture.
Location: The workcamp will take place in the hamlet of l'Echalp which is attached to Ristolas, a small mountain village twinned with the nearby Italian village of Bobbio Pelicce Abandoned in 1960 with the energy of the people and the municipality. There are now 10 permanent inhabitants in the hamlet and more than 50 during summer

During this workcamp you will participate in the reconstruction of a Provencal sheepfold which will allow you to develop competence in stones construction. This workcamp is located in the hills of "Penne sur Huveaune", a small town with Provencal traditions, nearby Marseille, a big Mediterranean cosmopolitan port.
This workcamp will take place under the supervision of the ONF (National Office of Forests). A part of the animation program will be focused on the environmental protection and the fight against fires. The place offers possibilities for cultural, nature, sports seaside activities.

During this workcamp you will have to repaint the shutters of a Provencal castle, transformed today into a social centre and which needs to be restored to make it more friendly.
The history of Servieres begins in the 50s. Families, without flats worked together to build their own houses. During summer, they were helped by the first " international volunteers " of the Compagnons Batisseurs (Dutch, Belgians, the Swiss, Moroccans, Italians). During the works families lived in the Castle of Servieres, uninhabited at this time. Once the houses finished, the castle was used as social centre.
Within the framework of this workcamp you will also have a role in the fight against racism and xenophobia, and promote the inter generation contacts between the inhabitants of Servieres and the young people of the district.
The castle is situated at the top of a hill, which dominates Marseille in a district qualified today of "sensitive"(difficult social backgrounds)

After the floods of December 2003, in the South of France, many families are in trouble with their house.
Your arms will be welcome to help persons who are discouraged when faced by the scale of the works to be done, and in physical or moral incapacity to begin the restoration of their apartment.
You will help two families who have been selected by the local social workers, by participating in the restoration of their flats (partitions, painting, tiling, flooring, small works of carrying furniture…).
Location: This workcamp is in the heart of Camargue, a place rich in traditions which offers many activities not far away from Arles, a Gallo Roman town which has magnificent monuments, inheritance of 2000 years of history (7 are classified by UNESCO in the world patrimony of the humanity).

During this workcamp, you will participate in a strong humanistic experience. This project is set up with the "Plan d’Eradication de l’Habitat Indigne" (a Plan to put an end to shameful housing conditions), with "Compagnons batisseurs" association, and with municipality of Bouc Bel Air.
The municipality is very involved in this project and wishes to associate the volunteers with the life of the village.
You will realise works to improve the living conditions of 2 persons facing very big difficulties. It will be about painting works, wallpaper, small plumbing, etc.
You will be involved in a social project, you will see that the humanitarian commitment can be made in all the countries including in his own.

For 6 years, the small town of Breteil has hosted international volunteers to restore it’s local heritage. This year the inhabitants are again waiting for you impatiently!
Lovers of old stones will continue a work started in 2001: restoration of the walls surrounding the church, in the town centre using ancient and traditional methods of working with stone. This year another work is planned: the restoration of the Calvary near the City hall.
You will discover the strong motivation of the local population to preserve it’s heritage - they'll give you a hand for sure.
This could be a good opportunity to build links with this friendly village. The local youth should also help you to discover the area, the chance to try some sports and cultural activities, local traditional village fetes…As for the older ones among them, they will come to share with you their memories of the past….

CBF23 MONTREUIL / ILLE 05/07-25/07 11 Vol. RENO
Montreuil-sur-Ille is a small town of approximately 1600 inhabitants halfway between Rennes and St Malo. Its name comes from the history, Montreuil rising from the Latin word "Monasteriolum" (small monastery) and from the river "Ille" which crosses it.
If there are not real monastery in this place, we know nevertheless that abbeys sent often, in this time, some of their monks with the agreement of the Lord of the place, to create a place of cult. We can easily imagine that some monks came to live on the edges of Ille. Around these monks, step by step a village was created where shopkeepers and farmers came to settle.
The local heritage of the village includes a public wash-house. This one knew a tumultuous life by having different places on the village, fifty years ago it was moved by hand on the edge of the river. This year this wash-house is going to be the subject of all the attentions by being moved around hundred metres to be restored there. These works of restoration take place at the ideal moment: the bi centenary of "Ille et Rance" canal situated in border of Montreuil sur Ille and who connects La Manche to the Atlantic Ocean. During this anniversary many local events and dramas will be organised in which you can participate together with the local associations and the young people of the village.

CBF25 POUANCE 2 09/08-22/08 11 Vol. RENO
The small town of Pouance is situated on the border of Anjou and Haut Maine historically a strategic region when Bretagne was still independent of France. The 13th and 14th century fortress of Marches of Bretagne and the Doors of Anjou dominate the city. Today, only some towers and walls remain to give testimony to this important monument.
International volunteers have already come in recent years to restore certain parts of the castle and carried out different types of Work: maintenance of paving stones, restoration of walls, sizing of stones for the reconstruction of underground stairs and so on… This year the work will be limited to masonry works within the castle in order to protect the wall ruins face from the forces of bad weather.
The workcamp will essentially be based on the restoration of an ancient public wash house: the wash house of Saulnerie, composed of three elements: 2 basins and one well hole. The volunteers will intervene on this whole site to allow the distribution of water between the 3 elements.

CBF26 FAMILLES BZH 12/07-01/08 11 Vol. SOCI
For more than 30 years our association in Brittany has been working with people in difficult situations to improve their housing conditions. This workcamp will be a chance to meet families who live in isolated countryside and help them restore their homes (masonry, painting, and joinery). It's also a chance to learn different construction skills and to offer solidarity to help these families.
You will try to use different techniques in the secondary building works, but you will especially be making an act of solidarity through enabling the families to live in the best conditions possible with your helping hand.

CBF27 LE MONT DES ALOUETTES 05/07-25/07 12 Vol. RENO
Le Mont des Alouettes is 231meters high, strong western winds (ocean side) blow across an 80km plateau before being rebounded onto this hill; so it’s no wonder to find windmills there!
First constructed in 1564, 8 mills were still working until the beginning of the 20th century. 3 of them still exist and 1 is still working so this allows us to understand more clearly how the millers worked and gives us the chance to explain it to visitors.
The Mont of Alouettes and its windmills make an extraordinary sight, it is the ‘Service Animation Jeunesse’ of the town of Herbiers which is in charge of putting life into the area The youth of the village have already started to restore this heritage by organising workcamps to clean up and hosting tourists to explain to them the history of these mills.
2 international workcamps took place in 2002 and in 2003, volunteers discover those which have disappeared. Their foundations were hidden under vegetation and some weeding has allowed their foundations to be seen.
This year you can continue with the work of clearing in order to fully restore the other foundations. The bases already uncovered will be further protected through construction works which will be carefully carried out. This work will be a good opportunity to meet the young people of Herbiers, organise social evenings and have a good time together with them, but also together with visitors who come to the site. Each Thursday evening for example there will be an event where you can present the work being carried out.
Location: Les Herbiers is 22km away from Cholet and 42 from La Roche sur Yon. It will be possible to discover the “Marais Poitevin” area (a protected natural site laden with canals) and of course the Atlantic ocean which is 80km away.

CBF28 LES FOUGERETS 26/07-15/08 11 Vol. RENO
Les Fougerets is a small municipality situated in the South East of Morbihan. It is a part of the natural big site of the "Basse Vallee de l'Oust" which geology is a big advantage. The variety of the subsoil shows a varied landscape like marshland, abrupt hillsides … The small local heritage is one of the main witnesses to the geological fertility of this site: granite, schist and stoneware were used in the past for the construction of houses, churches, and baker's ovens. Being attached to their history, inhabitants have a strong motivation to maintain their heritage. The town council, the associations and the inhabitants worked together to make an inventory of the local heritage. It's now time to work to highlight all this richness! You will participate in the restoration of a bread oven situated in the heart of a hamlet which was in used in the past. The local population and the young people of Les Fougerets and Peillac will come to share with you, moments of solidarity and the pleasure to be together. CBF29 ARC EN CIEL 09/08-29/08 11 Vol. CONS
The association "Les Couleurs de l'Arc en ciel " aims to create and manage a rest centre to host children or other publics and propose activities to open people minds.
A first centre in La Selle en Cogles exists since 2001. Two employees of the association are working with children. This place also includes a cottage in the country, an associative garden and a meeting room for groups. They are now thinking about a new project: a place to host mentally disabled people. This second place is located in St Germain en Cogles - 9 km from Fougeres. Its aim is to answer to a strong need of disabled people to have the opportunity to benefit from nice holidays in a pleasant and peaceful place. For this an old farm needs to be completely restored
In this workcamp, you will begin the renovation works together with the volunteers involved in the association. The organisation of festive evenings focused on the local heritage will highlight this workcamp and will allow you to meet the local people.

CBF30 BAZOUGES SOUS HEDE 26/07-15/08 11 Vol. RENO
For more than thirty years Hede, Bazouges sous Hede and St Symphorien became the same municipality. In 2002 the all local population decided to get into the work to allow walks and restore the “roquets (stone paths) situated in Hede.
The path had become impracticable because old walls have unfortunately, over time, fallen to block them.
2 international summer workcamps have already allowed to restore this " Roquets". This year, it is on the territory of Bazouges sous Hede that a new intervention has been planned. Today, the population waits for you to continue the works and restore a fishpond built by the priest of Bazouges at the end of the 19th century.
By making the river diversion which connects the pond of Bazouges to the pond of Bezardiere, the priest can eat a lot of fishes. This fishpond shows that in the past, the country priests lived almost in autarky. The glasshouse, the well and a fence wall are also waiting for a restoration.
This workcamp will be the occasion for you to discover and use traditional techniques of masonry with stones. Furthermore, it is the ideal moment to restore the fishpond because it is connected to the canal of Ille sur Rance (connecting Nantes to Brest) which celebrates this year the bicentenary of its construction. This anniversary will give place to many animations along the canal in which you can participate.
There is also the theatre festival which runs every year in August. Musicians, comedians and storytellers take over the ruins of the castle, the church square, the theatre and the infamous Cafe de Solange. So this workcamp will be a chance to share strong moments and revel in the magic of the show with local artists! (intercultural themes and heritage etc….)

This small village 15 km South East from Rennes, far away from the main roads is becoming urbanized quite slowly. The Mayor and his City Council are careful to protect open spaces, the meadows of the centre village are under their vigilance. The global project, parking in grass and toilet block has to continue to create a court yard and the reconstruction of a baker's oven mixing stones, earth and slates for its covering. A real " chef d'?uvre" of tradition and modernity connecting inhabitants and international summer workcamp volunteers. You will probably not finish all the works but you should already know that the inhabitants of St Aubin du Pavail will make a point of honour to continue your project to invite you on the next and first fete of the campfire roasted pig in 2005. This workcamp follows two others realised previous years in the nearby district.
The aim of the work will be to improve the living conditions carried out through ‘rehabilitation work camps’ and mutual aid of people with social difficulties. This social action focused on accommodation will help the individuals through working collectively. In effect, the people in difficulties also participate in collective activities in an animated space within the district. These actions are part of the wider action of working together with people in difficulties for their ‘re-socialisation’. Emmaus communities were born in the 50s, further to an important housing shortage in France. Their aim is to offer a roof to the most disadvantaged persons in exchange of an active participation in the community life. For several years, we realise international summer workcamps in these communities. This year the project concerns the renovation of one of the centre. Works will be about the restoration of the roof, carpentry, removal of tiles…
Location: This workcamp is located in " Le Prahecq" 15km far away from Niort.
Specific info: The life rules of the community will be the same for the group of volunteers and will thus have to be respected (no alcohol for e.g.).

For 4 years we are organising international summer workcamp with the municipality of Charentilly.
This year the workcamp will be based on finishing the rehabilitation of an ancient butchers shop in order to enlarge the local municipality which is situated in a protected perimeter listed by the historical monuments.. The work will consist in installation of all the windows and the doors …and also re-pointing the joints of the inside and the outside of the building.

CBF37 LA CLARTE D'YEUX 11/07-01/08 10 Vol. RENO
The association "les amis de la Clarte d’Yeux" has just been created on a common project, the rehabilitation of the site of the abbey "de la Clarte d’Yeux" which 1st building dates from the 14th century.
Several workshops will be proposed, the rehabilitation of the small house situated in the entrance of the site, the clearing around the convent of the monks which uncovers stone benches and bases of columns and renovation of a stone fireplace. Different masonry works are planed re-pointing joints, cuts of stone), installation of windows and doors.

CBF38 CENTRE RURAL 08/08-29/08 8 Vol. RENO
Our regional association in TOURS plans to rehabilitate an ancient farm called " rural centre " situated in the South of the Indre et Loire region in the countryside. This centre will have for objective to be the resource place of all the activities organised by the association and to be used as support for all workcamp activities using of natural materials and techniques of renewable energy.
Today the place consists of several building in ruins under bushes. First planned works are cleaning and clearing the site and to list materials present on the site which could be used for the future construction
