OUR PROGRAMME IS AWARDED THE FIRST PRIZE IN THE  “SCHOOL CO-OPERATION INCORPORATED INTO  CURRICULUM ” CATEGORY

            

The 1st Peiramatiko Likio Athinon receives the First Prize in the “school co-operation” category at the Greek eTwinning projects competition. This programme has been implemented in the school curriculum. Mr. D.Rentzelos, Ms Ioanna Komninou, parents and students were present  at the award ceremony .

 

TEACHERS OF THE GREEK DEPARTMENT OF THE VIRTUAL SCHOOL ATTENDED AN EDUCATIONAL SEMINAR ABOUT ETWINNING IN STOCKHOLM

       

Ms Ioanna Komninou and Ms Maria Frentzou attended the formal closing meeting of the European Virtual School programme which took place in Stockholm. They attended informative talks about the aims and the development method of the eTwinning programmes, Anne Gilleran and Katerina Basorova. Suggestions were made to use the material and the resources of the Virtual School to the eTwinning projects.

 

ITALIAN NEWSPAPERS WRITE ABOUT THE ITALIAN SCHOOL (FRANCESCO LA CAVA) VISIT TO GREECE (JUNE 2005)

The daily newspapers in South Italy wrote articles on our programme “Magna Grecia”. Among other things, they emphasized the importance of this programme for teachers and students of both countries.

They also wrote about the warm welcome and hospitality the Italian school received by the 1st Peiramatiko Likio Athinon and by the Municipality of Athens, underlining the important results of this programme (June 2005)

OUR STUDENTS TALK ABOUT OUR PROGRAMME ON THE RADIO (MAY 2005)

The radio station of the Greek Orthodox Church in Greece hosted three broadcasts about our programme and the civilization of “Magna Grecia”. Greek and Italian teachers had the opportunity to communicate on the air with listeners, answering their questions. The broadcast was produced by Ms Katerina Gouli.

         

 

PRESENTATION OF OUR PROGRAMME AT THE 1ST PEIRAMATIKO LIKIO ATHINON      (APRIL 2005)  

Our programme was presented at our school premises. Students and teachers of both schools participated in the event, which was honored by the presence of several distinguished guests. Among them were representatives of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Aris Louvris and Ms Georgia Katsifaraki, the President of the School Committee Mr. I.Bofos, School Advisor Mr I.Tsagas, Ms B. Brouza from the Department of Secondary Education in Athens, and Ms A. Gouli from the Greek Orthodox Church radio station. The headmistress of the 1st Peiramatiko Likio Athinon and the headmaster of the Fransesco La Cava Italian school Mr. F. Scanga emphasized the importance of this programme for both students and teachers of their schools. Both the chairperson of the Parents Committee, Ms Papadopoulos, and the chairman of the Students Association, Mr. Th. Kokkinos agreed with these views.  

 

FORMAL VISIT TO THE ATHENS CITY HALL, WHERE THE MAYOR OF ATHENS, MRS BAKOYIANNI, AND THE CHAIRMAN OF THE CITY COUNCIL, MR TH. BECHRAKIS, WERE INFORMED OF OUR PROGRAMME (APRIL 2005).  

 

During their visit in Athens, members of the Italian school Francesco La Cava were welcomed by the Mayor of Athens, Ms Dora Bakoyianni at the City Hall. Both the Mayor and the Chairman of the City Council spoke in favor of our programme, emphasizing the importance of common cultural traditions for both countries. 

 

 

THE ITALIAN SCHOOL, FRANCESCO LA CAVA, VISITED ATHENS FOR THE INAUGURATION OF THE eTWINNING PROGRAMME “MAGNA GRAECIA” (April 2005).  

The Italian students visited the 1st High School of Athens and had the unique opportunity to attend Greek language lessons by the Greek teacher Mr. D. Rentzelos and the Italian teacher Ms Maria Gracia Melina. The lectures were delivered to a mixed audience of Greek and Italian students.

 

      

Greek and Italian students celebrated the inauguration of our programme at a greek taverna in Plaka. Teachers of both schools also participated in the celebration, which was sponsored by the Parents Association of the 1st Peiramatiko Likio Athinon.
