PROGRAM

The project "Arts and Environment", tries to sensitize students so that they become committed citizens with environmental aspects such as Sustainable Energy, Management of Waste and so on; that education would allow a sustainable development of the society that the students are part of. Also, this project aims to encourage the respect among other European realities through the knowledge of their own identity and that of the other participants in the project.

	Each of the local activities will take the Artistic, Historic and Environmental Heritage into account; that knowledge will be shared among the rest of the schools by using telematic means (creation of a web page, use of e-mail and chats and so on). In the transnational activities, the Forming Team (group of teachers of all the participant schools) will have teaching sessions in each school; those sessions will be based on cultural and environmental knowledge.
	Along the project, each country will host the "Intercultural and Environmental Week" once.
	This project has been created on a cross-curricular basis; thus, the subjects involved in the project are also established in the curricula of each country.
	Final Result: web page, teaching materials to be used in the Intercultural and Environmental Week, experience of communication means, sharing of experience among teachers and students of different countries.

Our school, 1st Gymnasium of Oreokastro, supports the above, considering the organization and implementation of the project. 1st Gymnasium of Oreokastro has been founded in 1977 and its location is near to Oreokastro forest. The students of our school - for the school year 2004-05 - are 270 and the teachers are 36.
