Dresden is a beautiful old baroque town, destroyed in the Second World war but beautifully restored. Two years ago there was a big flood in Dresden, destroying a lot of the renovation work done after German reunification. Once more we cooperate with our partner “FachWerkHof” in Dresden. This is a non-profit organization with different projects and initiatives in the field of youth, culture and social work. It is situated in a former farm and there are renovation works to do step by step. The farm originates from the 17th century and is a protected building. There is a lot of construction, gardening and renovation work to be done.

IBG 02 Pforzheim       Baden-Wuerttemberg 02/05-16/05   CONS  8

Pforzheim, also known as “city of gold” has about 115.000 inhabitants, is situated between Stuttgart and Karlsruhe. It is located in the beautiful landscape of the Black Forest, surrounded by three rivers. It will be worthwhile to go for hikes and walks in this varied landscape. A lot of interesting excursions are possible, Heidelberg as a very old German city may be one of the possibilities. It will be interesting to visit the jewellery museum in Pforzheim or the castles and monastery in the surroundings.

Work: The local host is a charity organization running workshops for disabled.You will have a close contact to the disabled people, you should be open for this! The project will take place on the grounds of this organization, which is situated next to the forest. Work: You will build a pavilion, therefore digging the ground, laying the foundations, preparing the wood to set up the pavilion afterwards.

IBG 04 Stuttgart zBaden-Wuerttemberg 22/05-05/06       RENO/CONS    10

This project takes place for the first time in cooperation with “Kinderprag”, a local children initiative in Stuttgart, a city with approximately 600.000 inhabitants in the south of Germany. The local initiative has started to build up a huge adventure playground called “DirtBikeTrail”. Up to now you can already find a big cross track for bikes there. In additional to this the international volunteers will build up several other elements of the adventure playground – especially a suspension bridge and a kind of miniature cable railway. The whole area of this adventure playground contains approximately about 8.000 square meters. The work will be done in together with local volunteers and under the supervision of professionals from the local authorities for public green areas. The accommodation will be in a school. The camp will have close contact to the local youth. Also in leisure time many activities will be done together with locals. Stuttgart offers many possibilities for activities as visiting museums, going to pubs and discos, joining culture events and excursions to cities like Tuebingen or Heidelberg.

BG 05 Nagold Baden-Wuerttemberg 04/07-21/07   RENO/ENVI     13

The camp is organized in co-operation with the youth centre of Nagold. The youth centre is situated in the inner-city. It is a meeting point for young people from the whole region.

Nagold is a beautiful town with about 30.000 inhabitants. It is about 50km away from Stuttgart and the town is called the “gate to the black forest”. You can undertake trips to Stuttgart and Tuebingen, a well-known university town, or take part in the numerous activities of the youth centre.

Accommodation: in the youth centre “Youz”, kitchen available, showers nearby.

IBG 06           Hirschorn       Hesse  04/07-24/07   RENO   20

Hirschhorn is a very beautiful town on the banks of the river Neckar. The landscape with the river, the medieval castle and the forests is breathtaking. The town is dominated by the castle situated over a steep hill above the town. Visits of the town, the castle and the surroundings will be worthwhile. Our partner for this project is the local municipality.

Work: The group will continue the work that the last workcamp has started, which is to restore an old footpath along the complete town wall leading up to the castle. The path meanders along old terraced gardens planted with fruit trees and it is very steep. The work will include clearing vegetation, transporting materials such as gravel and stones, laying steps and paving with natural red sandstones. The work will be physically hard (but the view of the town compensates for this).

Accommodation: Probably the group will live very centrally in an empty municipial house.

IBG 07 Ruggel (FL)    Liechtenstein  10/07-18/07   CULT/RENO    10

The very first international workcamp in Liechtenstein! Liechtenstein is one of the smallest countries in Europe. You can find Liechtenstein on the map on the border between Switzerland and Austria. Liechtenstein has approx. 50.000 inhabitants in total. The currency are Suisse Francs. Ruggell is a small village with 2000 inhabitants in the north of Liechtenstein. In 200 m distance to the west you will find the border to Switzerland and in 2 km distance to the east you will find the border to Austria. The cooperation-partner is a youth-initiative and the main focus lies on the contact to the local youth. The international group of volunteers will do some painting and renovation work in the youth clubs. Therefore we are looking for creative volunteers. There are several other working projects to be done, but as well a lot of nice leisure activities and excursions together with the locals. The accommodation will be in a house for families, who lost their houses after fire etc., it is recently renovated and offers all facilities. IBG 08 Leun   Hesse  11/07-31/07   RENO/ENVI     15

Leun is a medieval small town with approx. 5000 inhabitants and situated about 70 km north of Frankfurt (Main). Our cooperation partner is the local municipality. The project has a long tradition meanwhile and its main point will be within the field of manual work like renovation foot paths or cutting bushes and other work in the field of environmental protection. The surroundings are quite nice, but volunteers shouldn’t mind to walk a lot, because the accommodation is not in the city and the train station is two kilometres far away. The camp has been taking place for many years now, so the local council is very experienced in hosting workcamps. Excursions to Cologne, Frankfurt and Heidelberg and canoeing on the river Lahn are possible.

IBG 09 Hötensleben   Saxony-Anhaltine 11/07-31/07       RENO/HIST     13

Hoetensleben is a small village directly at the border between the two parts of Germany. Some parts of the former protection are a monument now. Here the frontier gards tried to avoid violations of the border. The international group will maintain the former frontier protection as a monument, without this support the wall would fall down. The wall separated the two parts of Germany, here you can still see the violence of the former Iron Curtain. It is still a very strong impression. We look for volunteers interested in German and worldwide history, a small study-part will offer the opportunity for discussions. You will have a close contact to the local youth, you should be open for this!

Accommodation: In a part of the local school, complete with school garden and school yard.

IBG 10 Obernburg      Bavaria          12/07-22/07   ENVI   10

Obernburg is a very nice town in the valley of the river Main, not far from Frankfurt and has approximately about 8000 inhabitants. It has some nice old buildings and is famous for roman history. Excursions to the cities of Aschaffenburg, Frankfurt, Darmstadt and Heidelberg are possible. The accommodation will be in a hikers lodge in 5 km distance from the city on a hill, where you have a wonderful view over the town and the possiblility to go hiking in the forest. The hikers lodge has all facilities like kitchen, shower and beds and there will be lots of hikers who come to enjoy this beautiful place around the lodge. Volunteers shouldn’t mind walking a lot, because the accommodation is quite isolated. Work: environmental work together with professional workers from the local municipality

Neckarsteinach is a small town not far away from Heidelberg in the valley of the river Neckar. The beautiful location right in the middle of four castles and old ruins offers lots of chances for trips to go hiking etc. Many excursions are possible, Heidelberg is only one opportunity.

Work: The project takes place in Grein, which is part of Neckarsteinach. The international workcamp will help to restore two cemetery walls. Work may be physically hard. You will work in small teams.

Accommodation: An empty municipality house.

IBG 12 Plochingen     Baden-Wuerttemberg 25/07-15/08   KIDS   10

Plochingen has about 20.000 inhabitants and is situated in the valley of the river "Neckar". It is not very far from Stuttgart and the old university city Tuebingen. A lot of nice excursions are possible. The international group will help local volunteers to run a playscheme for about 200 children. The first week the camp will prepare the playscheme, the other two weeks the playscheme will run from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The accommodation will be in families, so please add a motivation letter in Englisch and /or German. IBG 13 Kleinwachau   Saxony          31/07-14/08   RENO   10

The local host is a big charity organization and runs homes, workshops and schools for disabled and a hospital for people with epilepsy. The place is located about 20 km from Dresden in a rural area. It is the third time that a workcamp is invited in Kleinwachau. The accommodation will be in a small hut in the forest with toilets. Showers are in a few minutes walking distance in one of the main buildings, where the group will also get meals in a canteen. The working project is to help to renovate a playscheme. Nice excursions to Dresden, an old and famous baroque town and Saxon Switzerland, which is famous for hiking, are possible.

IBG 15 Kehl    Baden-Wuerttemberg 01/08-21/08   ENVI   12

Kehl is a medium-sized town on the boards of the river Rhine facing the French-German border. The Alsatian town of Strasbourg is situated on the other side of the river Rhine. It will be interesting to visit the beautiful town of Strasbourg, crossing the boarder to France.

Our partner for this project is the municipality of Kehl. They have created an innovative environmental project in their town. There is a small stream running through Kehl. In former times this was completely concreted in and biologically dead. The municipality has renatured this stream by taking the concrete away and allowing the small river to flow through the town again. There are many plants and animals living in the river now. However, since the river is in the middle of the town rubbish must be cleared from the banks of the river. Also, you will assist in mowing the banks of the river and removing some plants. This is necessary to prevent flooding in the town. This work has been carried out by an international workcamp last year. For preservation it has to be done every year. You will need to work with machines some of the time!! Please be prepared for this. Work may be physically hard. You will work in small teams. 

Accommodation: In the youth centre, which is located in a three storeys villa, with one shower, but free tickets to the open-air swimming pool will be provided.

16-18 years old! Dresden is a beautiful old baroque town, destroyed in the Second World war but beautifully restored. This is a non-profit organisation with different projects and initiatives in the field of youth, culture and social work. There is a lot of construction, gardening and renovation work to be done. This camp is just for teenagers aged 16 – 18 years old. There will also be a little study-part dealing with the theme “youth in Europe”.

IBG 17 Bernburg        Saxony-Anhaltine      01/08-21/08   RENO   11

Bernburg itself is a town with a history of more than 1000 years. There is a castle on the top of the valley of the river Saale which can be seen from far away.

The project will be gardening work at a Jewish graveyard. It was not allowed to visit this graveyard in the past, but now they started to open it for visitors. Because of many years without taking care for the graveyard there are lots of bushes, grass and weed on the graves and the ways, which must be taken away. Because of the special place it is necessary, that the male volunteers have to cover their heads.

The camp will stay at the youth centre “Klubhaus der Jugend”. It will be easy to come into contact with local young people, that means that volunteers should be interested in this. In the last years there was always a very nice atmosphere in the youth centre with a lot of party and events. Excursions to Leipzig and Berlin are possible.

IBG 18 Calw   Baden-Wuerttemberg 01/08-28/08   ENVI   10

This is a special four weeks project. Ten international volunteers will work together with a group of Chinese students. The working project will be in the field of environmental work and the international group will work at a small stream and rebuild it to the natural state. The work will be guided by a professor of a university in Stuttgart. He will also offer some study parts.

Calw is a beautiful city in the north of the black forest and well-known for health cure. Therby you have a lot of possibilities for sightseeing, shopping and leisure activities. Nice excursions to Heidelberg, Tuebingen, Karlsruhe and Stuttgart are possible. Many old ruins around Calw can also be visited.

Work will be physically hard at times and with a high working intensity, so we are looking for nature-loving volunteers motivated to work hard!

IBG 19 Münstertal     Baden-Wuerttemberg 02/08-13/08   ENVI   10

This is a workcamp for mountain and nature-lovers only! Muenstertal is a small village in the black forest, very beautiful situated and surrounded by the highest mountains of the black forest. In cooperation with the local forest authorities the international workcamp will preserve young trees and other plants on the slopes of the mountain Belchen (1.400 m high). The plants have to be preserved as in this nature reserve many animals love especially the “baby-tress”. The accommodation of the workcamp will be in a mountain hut, hiking will be the usual leisure time activity. Excursions will only be possible at the weekend.

Bietigheim ist eine kleine Stadt in der Nähe von Stuttgart und bietet viele Freizeitmöglichkeiten. Unser Kooperationspartner ist ein Jugendzentrum. In den Sommerferien veranstaltet das Jugendzentrum eine “Kinderspielstadt”, in der ca. 200 Kinder zusammenkommen werden, um eine Stadt nachzuspielen mit eigenem Parlament und Betrieben wie Bäckerei, Friseur, Restaurant, Sparkasse etc. Handwerkliche oder künstlerische Fähigkeiten sind von Vorteil. Die Camp-Sprache ist Deutsch. Wir bitten um ein Motivationsschreiben in Deutsch, in dem deutlich wird, was Dich am Camp interessiert und was Du dazu beitragen kannst. Wenn 200 Kinder zusammenkommen, kann es manchmal anstrengend werden und die Arbeitszeit wird länger als nur 6 Stunden am Tag sein.

Bietigheim is a small town close to Stuttgart, but it offers a lot of leisure activities. Our Cooperation-partner is a youth-centre. During sommer holidays this youth centre organizes a big playground for approximately 200 children, who will create their own town in the afternoons. In this town there will be an own parliament and institutions like a bakery, a hairdresser, a restaurant, a bank, etc. – all run by children aged 6 – 12 years old. Of course they have their own currency and have to earn their money by „working“ in one of the institutions. The camp will help to run this big playground. It will be an advantage if volunteers have creative or technical skills. Camp-language will be german. IBG asks for a motivation-letter which shows us the interest of the volunteer in the camp and which kind of skills they can offer to enrich the camp. Because of the presence of 200 children work can be quite hard sometimes and lasts longer than just six hours per day. Volunteers should like children very much.

Nittenau is a small town in Bavaria close to the town Regensburg. There is the possibility of nice leisure activities like going to a swimming-pool or canoeing. The work will be construction and renovation work on local playgrounds like painting old material and construction of new playing tools. The accommodation will be in a school with all facilities like kitchen, showers and toilets.

Eberbach is a small town situated on the banks of the river Neckar. It is located about 120 km away from Frankfurt and not too far away from Heidelberg. The surroundings are very beautiful. It will be possible to visit old castle ruins next to the Neckar, e.g. in Neckarsteinach which is well known for its four castles or the famous castle of Heidelberg. Eberbach itself is well known for ivory, which is presented in a museum including the history.

Work: Renovation work on different playgrounds and environmental work in the nature reserve.

IBG 23 Grafenwöhr    Bavaria          08/08-28/08   ENVI   15

The camp will be organized in co-operation with the local town council and the administration of the nature reserve „Noerdlicher Oberpfaelzer Wald“. Under the guidance of experienced rangers you will create and reactivate former ponds, which is necessary to improve the living conditions of dragon-flys and amphibians. The rangers offer study-parts and lectures about the special kind of nature and its animals. There will also be a video-documentation about the project and a lot of excursions are offered. Grafenwöhr is a little old town and there is the possibility of nice excursions, for example Nuremberg, Bayreuth and Munich.

IBG 24 Hinterzarten   Baden-Wuerttemberg 3 weeks in     ENVI/RENO     13

Hinterzarten is a small town in the south of the black forest. The town lies in beautiful nature and is a touristical centre, especially for winter sports. There will be lots of possibilities to go hiking in this beautiful mountainous landscape. This camp is just right for nature lovers. The working project will be environmental work in the surrounding of Hinterzarten. It will be possible to do a lot of nice excursions, for example Freiburg and Konstanz as very nice cities. The access to Hinterzarten is very easy by train (every 30 min. from Freiburg).

IBG 25 Oberhausen-Rheinhausen     Baden-Wuerttemberg 10/08-31/08 RENO 10

Oberhausen-Rheinhausen is a small community located on the banks of the Rhein river. It’s in the south of Germany, about 160 km away from Frankfurt and about 100 km from Stuttgart. The surroundings and the landscape are very beautiful. Erlichsee (one of the most popular lake resorts in southern Germany) is located in this town. Many activities are offered there to include windsurfing, camping, fishing, swimming, canoeing etc. On two different playgrounds the mayor and the town council are concerned about the renovation of playing tools for children. Volunteers will be responsible for painting the playing tools for children and replacing the old ones to include the ground maintenance of the playground. In the case of bad weather, volunteers will renovate the community center (inside consist of a youth center and a community room). Volunteers will be accommodated in a primary school in classrooms or a gymnasium, with all falicities like kitchen, toilets and showers. Camp language is german and english.

This camp will take place for the first time with the new cooperationpartner “riesa efau”. This is a cultural centre offering a lot of activities. The work will be to create a meeting-place on an unbuild area next to the centre. This means gardening work as well as planting and arranging sitting-areals. Work will be supervised by professionals and will be done with local people.

Lindberg is a small village, situated in a nature park in Bavaria directly at the border to the Czech Republic. There will be lots of possibilities to go for walks or biking in this beautiful forest landscape.This area is well known for glasswork.

The international group will renovate a cemetery wall and different playgrounds.

IBG 28 Marbach        Baden-Wuerttemberg 15/08-05/09   KIDS   12

Marbach ist eine kleine Stadt in der Nähe von Stuttgart, bekannt als Geburtsstadt des berühmten Schriftstellers Friedrich Schiller. Es bieten sich viele interessante Ausflüge an. Dieses Projekt findet in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Jugendzentrum “planet-x” statt. Das Camp wird den Mitarbeitern des Jugendzentrums helfen, Kinderferienspiele vorzubereiten und durchzuführen. In der ersten Woche finden die Vorbereitungen für die Ferienspiele statt, in der zweiten und dritten Woche kommen die Kinder. Arbeitszeiten sind von Montag bis Freitag an den Nachmittagen. Die Unterkunft ist in einer Turnhalle.

Nächster Bahnhof: Marbach. Nächster Flughafen: Stuttgart

Campsprachen sind Englisch und Deutsch. Neben der Campsprache Englisch werden Grundkenntnisse in Deutsch vorausgesetzt.

Marbach is a small town close to Stuttgart, known as hometown of the famous writer Friedrich Schiller. A lot of interesting excursions are possible and there are good train connections. The cooperation-partner is the youth-centre “planet-x”, which organizes a holiday playscheme for 150 children between 6 and 12 years old. During the first week preparation for the playscheme will be done. Volunteers will help to construct the facilities which are necessary for running the playscheme and the second and third week the children will come Monday to Friday in the afternoons. The work will be carried out together with local youth. Beside of supervising the children volunteers can offer their own workshops. Working time can be longer than just 6 hours a day.

The accommodation will be in a sports-hall without cooking facilities, those will be in the youth centre 500 m away from the sports-hall.

Camp-language: English and German. Besides English as camplanguage we expect basic skills in German from all volunteers.

 

IBG 29 Lindau Bavaria          22/08-11/09   KIDS   12

This is a special camp with refugees!

Our local partner in Lindau is “exilio”, a charity organisation working with refugees and asylum seekers in the region of Lindau. As main task they are giving therapeutic support to traumatized refugees. Beside of this exilio cares for the asylum seekers of one refugee center. This summer exilio wants to offer for the first time a kind of holiday for the children and youngsters (aged 6 to 16) of this refugee center. As the asylum seekers are not allowed to travel exilio will organise a holiday camp very close to Lindau. To run this camp they are looking for international help. The international volunteers will support exilio in the daily organisation (meals, activities...) of the camp. We are looking for volunteers who are very motivated to work directly with refugees. Please add a motivation letter in English or German. Minimum age is 21.

 

IBG 30 Mühlhausen    Thuringia       29/08-18/09   RENO   14

The local host is a charity organisation running workshops and schools for disabled. Beside of this they own as well a café in a forest about 10 km away from Muehlhausen, where they sell home made cakes etc. Next to the café you can find a big playground for children, a small zoo and several bungalows where the disabled or anybody else can spend weekends or holidays. We cooperate with the local host for many years now and for all participants this camp meant a big experience. Muehlhausen is a very old German town with about 50.000 inhabitants. Visiting the city you can still imagine how Germany must have been in former times.

Dresden is a beautiful old baroque town, destroyed in the Second World war but beautifully restored. Two years ago there was a big flood in Dresden, destroying a lot of the renovation work done after German reunification. Once more we cooperate with our partner “FachWerkHof” in Dresden. This is a non-profit organisation with different projects and initiatives in the field of youth, culture and social work. It is situated in a former farm and there are renovation works to do step by step. The farm originates from the 17th century and is a protected building. There is a lot of construction, gardening and renovation work to be done. There will also be a study part dealing with the theme “Europe”.

IBG 32 Weil im Schönbuch Baden-Wuerttemberg    27/09-08/10   ENVI   15

This camp will be perfect for all nature lovers! Situated in the wonderful surroundings of the “Naturpark Schönbuch” all the project will deal with nature, even the working project will be environmental work in the forest. This can be for example clearing streams, cutting hedges, planting trees and work on celtic graves, which are in the nature-park. The work will be carried out together with local forest workers. There are lots of possibilities for beautiful hiking trips nearby starting just around the house. The accommodation will be in a big lodge, which belongs to a camping site in the forest. All facilities like kitchen, showers and toilets are available. Because of solar technic there is not always the chance of a hot shower, but the place is very nice with a campfire site inside and outside. Not far away there are excursions possible to Tübingen, Stuttgart, the castle of Hohenzollern and many more.
