Mελέτη με θέμα την αρχαιολογία και ιστορία της Νάξου των Κυκλάδων από τη Γεωμετρική έως και την Αυτοκρατορική εποχή, στην οποία κατ’ αρχάς συγκεντρώνονται και παρουσιάζονται με τρόπο συστηματικό όλες οι σωζόμενες για το νησί γραπτές μαρτυρίες (γραμματειακές πηγές, ναξιακές επιγραφές, λοιπές επιγραφικές και νομισματικές μαρτυρίες) και στη συνέχεια οι πληροφορίες που παρέχουν, μελετώνται και συνθέτονται ενδελεχώς, συνδυαζόμενες αφενός με τα μέχρι σήμερα δημοσιευμένα πορίσματα της πολύχρονης αρχαιολογικής έρευνας, αφετέρου με στοιχεία από την επιτόπια παρατήρηση.

Alexandra S.  SfyroeraAlexandra Sfyroera is a classical archaeologist. She graduated from the Department of History and Archaeology of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (1993). She obtained both her MSc (1997) and PhD (2011) in Classical Archaeology from the same Department –as a fellow of the Public Benefit Foundation “Alexandros S. Onassis”, 1999-2002.
She has worked as an archaeologist in the Athens Office of Lexicon Iconographicum Mythologiae Classicae – LIMC (2000-2001), in Naxos (at intervals from 1993 to 2009), Zakros (1995-2002) and Kea (2002-2004).
In Naxos she has participated, among others, in the excavations, conservation and restoration of the ancient sanctuaries of Yria, Gyroulas, Melanes and also in the excavation and restoration of Naxos’ ancient aqueduct. She has also contributed to the establishment of the Museum collections at Gyroulas and Melanes.
Currently, she is a member of the University of Athens excavation team in Epidauros. She is also responsible for the publication of the material from the sanctuary of Demeter of the ancient polis of Naxos.
In 2009 she joined the Museum of Archaeology and History of Art (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) –where she currently works as Laboratory Teaching Staff since 2014. Her duties/interests include the curation and documentation of the Museum’s Educational Collection, designing and implementation of educational programs for Primary and High school pupils, and other outreach activities for students and the public at large. Furthermore, she organizes tutorials and practical exercises for students of the Department of History and Archaeology. She is also the administrator of the MuseumPlus program, an integrated software platform for the management of museum collections.
