п»їGolf Betting.
Now is as good a time as any to try online golf betting, especially with so much interest in the sport led by golf champions, like Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka, Rickie Fowler, Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Sergio Garcia, and Jordan Spieth.
Also in the spotlight are the other golf superstars, like Xander Schauffele, Matthew Wolff, Viktor Hovland, Matt Kuchar, Hideki Matsuyama, Henrik Stenson, Bryson DeChambeau, Patrick Cantlay, Gary Woodland, Sungjae Im, and Charl Schwartzel.
Meanwhile, Justin Rose, Webb Simpson, Francesco Molinari, Louis Oosthuizen, Paul Casey, Shane Lowry, Tony Finau, Tyrrell Hatton, Adam Scott, Keegan Bradley, Cameron Smith, Lee Westwood, Bubba Watson, and Ian Poulter continue to enjoy huge following and support from their fans.
Other golfing greats include Marc Leishman, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Matt Wallace, Jim Furyk, Kevin Kisner, Martin Kaymer, Billy Horschel, Brandt Snedeker, Graeme McDowell, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Jason Day, Tommy Fleetwood, and Danny Willett.
Golf Betting Odds and Bet Types.
Negative numbers signify the favorite player that’s expected to win the match. These numbers also indicate how much you need to bet to earn $100.
A positive means you’re looking at the underdog. The number indicates how much you’ll win if you bet $100, and the player you picked wins.
“To Win” Bets.
This is the most straightforward bet someone can make on golf, picking the player that will win a match. “To win” bets can be extremely lucrative. They often pay out better than “even” money (where there’s an equal chance of winning or losing).
Each-Way Golf Betting.
This is a double down wager or two separate bets on a player: one bet to finish first and the other bet to finish in the top 5.
For example, a $10 tournament winner bet on a player pays out $600 if he wins. An each-way bet doubles to $20 but covers him finishing in the top 5.
Prop Bet.
Also called a side bet, this is any collection of bets that typically bears no direct effect on the tournament outcome. You can place a prop bet on almost anything trivial like, whether or not there will be a playoff or if the winner will be under 30 years old.
Futures Bet.
This is a long-term bet where you place a prediction at the start or even a later point of a golf season or playoffs.
Golf Betting Games, Tournament Formats, and Side Games.
Golf enthusiasts always find different ways of playing both competitions and wagers. Here are some of the familiar betting games and formats that are popular among golf fans.
Foursomes: This is one of the better-known formats among the hundreds of golf tournament formats and games. A side consists of two golfers, and those two golfers play one ball per hole, taking turns hitting until the hole is complete. That’s why foursomes are also called “alternate shots.”
Foursomes are not to be confused with four-balls, where there are also four teams of two. In four-balls, both players on each team play their own ball. Each team takes the lowest of the two scores on each hole. The team with the lowest score in a hole wins that hole. The hole is halved if the scores are tied.
Threesomes: There are plenty of fun gambling games for three players, one of which is the Eighty-One (also called 5-3-1). In this game, there are nine holes a side (81 total points), and nine points are awarded on every hole.
Unless two players tie, points are distributed 5-3-1 per hole. The golfer with the best score gets 5 points. The second-best score gets 3 points, and the worst score gets 1 point.
Twosomes: Of the many different twosome formats, the real best ball and the most serious of all is the two-player best ball format. The players’ best net score is used on each hole.
Low Putts: This can be a tournament format or a side game. You throw out your other strokes and only count putts. The player or team with the fewest putts is the winner.
Round Robin: Four golfers pair off for two vs. two matches, and partners rotate every six holes. Each member of the quartet partners each golfer for one of those six-hole matches. Round Robin is also called Sixes and Hollywood.
Fairways & Greens: This betting game is best for groups of golfers with similar handicaps. The object is to hit fairways and greens. The catch is that you have to be the only player in your group to hit the fairway or hit the green to win the bet.
Las Vegas: T wo teams of two golfers each in which a side’s scores are put together (or paired) to form a double-digit number. Let’s say player A and player B form one Las Vegas team.
Example: On the first hole, A scores 4 and B scores 6. Summing them up, that’s 10. But in Las Vegas, we don’t add up scores. Instead, we pair them to form new point totals. You put 5 and 6 together, and you get 56. Fifty-six is the total score for Team A/B on Hole 1.
Nassau: A Nassau tournament is three tournaments in one: front nine, back nine, overall. How a team scores is up to the tournament organizers and just about anything is possible. It can be a stroke play or a match play. It can be a scramble, alternate shot, or best ball. There can be single players or two-person teams. Full handicaps, partial handicaps, or no course handicaps? Your choice.
Bingo Bango Bongo: This is a points-based game played by any number of golfers, from two team members up. Golfers get one point per hole for each of the following:
Bingo – the first player in the group to hit his or her golf ball on the green Bango – the player whose golf ball is closest to the pin after all balls are on the green Bongo – the first player to hole out.
Wolf: This game is typically played with full handicaps. Four players play independently to have the most points at the end of the round.
The order of play is determined on the first tee shot. The wolf is the last to tee off. The teeing order rotates on each hole so that each player becomes the wolf once every four holes.
If you want to be a Lone Wolf, you can declare that you are playing the hole alone before anyone tees off on the hole.
Note that this is a massive gamble because you will either win triple or lose triple compared to the golfers on the other side.
Double Bogey: A double bogey is made by a golfer scoring two strokes more than par to complete the play of a hole.
A golfer whose average score per hole is a double bogey will average 36-over par (two-over per hole times 18 holes). Some recreational golfers score in that range or even higher.
Fish: This is a side game that includes bets on three birdie-related factors. A bet is won when a golfer makes the first birdie, the longest birdie putt, and the most birdies during the round.
Skins: In the skins game, the players compete for a prize on each hole. The skin refers to the award, which may take the form of money or points.
The player who wins the hole outright wins the skin. If no one wins outright, the skin’s value is added for the next hole to become the carryover.
There appears to be earnest enthusiasm from golf bettors to wager on skins matches, like the top-rated TaylorMade Driving Relief charity event.
The match resulted in the fourth-most dollar amount wagered through a sportsbook on a golf event, trailing only the Masters, U.S. Open and Open Championship from last year.
One bookmaker also reported its handle was about double of what a typical PGA Tour event would bring in.

Golf betting simulcast to debut at Waste Management Phoenix Open.
If you’re a sports betting enthusiast, you have been treated over the past two years as more and more states legalize online sports betting and it becomes more mainstream. As partnerships and acquisitions in the space continue to heat up, so do new product offerings being introduced.
Golf fans and, more specifically, golf bettors, you’re up for the next treat.
Earlier this week, NBC Sports, the PGA Tour and PointsBet Sportsbook announced they will present the first-ever golf betting simulcast , which will debut around the Waste Management Phoenix Open next week.
The show, NBC Sports Edge BetCast , will air alongside NBC Sports’ telecast on GOLF Channel and NBC, airing Thursday, Feb. 4 through Sunday, Feb. 7 at TPC Scottsdale’s Stadium Course. NBC Sports Edge BetCast will be available on Peacock Premium, providing a golf-betting, second-screen experience focused on betting odds and lines around the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
The show will be presented over 10 afternoon hours, covering 2 1/2 hours in each of the tournament’s four rounds. The live studio will be overlooking the 16th hole.
“We are excited to debut this unique betting show with our partners at the PGA TOUR and PointsBet,” said David Preschlack, President, NBC Sports Regional Networks, and Executive Vice President, Content Strategy, NBC Sports Group via a press release. “With TPC Scottsdale’s Stadium Course as the backdrop, we look forward to a compelling sports betting presentation on Peacock Premium as a companion to watching the world’s best golfers competing on some of the most iconic holes on the PGA TOUR.”
For years during sports broadcasts, announcers generally danced around odds and sports betting in general. While important to a segment of their audience, it was generally considered taboo to speak of directly. While there have been some general references, the sports-betting community never felt it was enough. That changes moving forward.
Place your legal, online golf bets in CO, IA, IN, MI, NJ, PA, TN, VA and WV at BetMGM . New customer offer: Risk-free first bet! Terms and conditions apply. Bet now !
Sports bettors now have a show speaking their language and talking directly about betting opportunities, odds changes, probabilities and more throughout the event.
“The NBC Sports Edge BetCast stream on Peacock Premium is another step forward for our sports betting strategy,” said Norb Gambuzza , PGA TOUR Senior Vice President, Media and Gaming. “We are extremely excited to produce and distribute specialized betting content as a companion to our linear and digital coverage with our partners at NBC Sports and PointsBet. As we continue to embrace sports betting, the TOUR will continue to innovate and find new ways to engage fans around the world.”
Look for this type of experience to just be the tip of the iceberg of what’s to come… not just in golf, but across all sports verticals.

Finding the Best Golf Betting Sites of 2021.
Golf fans are a different breed than most fans of other sports. When we aren’t playing golf, we’re usually reading about golf, watching golf, or just day dreaming about golf. As a sport that captivates our minds so much, it shouldn’t be surprising that there is an enormous betting market on the sport. Not just fans, but sharp sports bettors looking to make a profit love to bet on the game’s top professionals.
If you’re new to golf betting or are a seasoned bettor looking to make the transition to the online realm, you’ve come to the right place. We’ve put together this page to serve as your yardage book for everything you need to know about betting on golf online and how to get started. More importantly, we’re going to give you the tips and tricks you need to make sure that you’re doing it safely while still having fun and hopefully making some money.
I’ve Got a Hot Tip! Get Me Betting NOW!
We guarantee that some of you are here because you have a strong prediction or a hot tip about an upcoming tournament. For those of you that are ready to get started and are just looking to get pointed in the right direction, we’ve got you covered. Below we’ve listed our highest recommended online sports betting sites offering extensive action on golf.
Here is our list of our most trusted sites offering golf sports betting online:
If you’re curious how we came to these recommendations, we’ve broken that down in full further down this page. But if you’re just ready to get rolling and get those picks in, here’s the abridged version. This list is an up to date collection of the very best sites offering golf betting action. The sites have been thoroughly vetted by our team for a whole host of factors with the most important being safety and reliability.
Sites CANNOT pay to be on this list. They can’t send us free rounds of golf or bake us cookies to be on this list. The only way that a site can get itself onto our recommended list is by offering and delivering a top notch product to their customers. We want this list of our recommendations to be one that you can trust and can take to the bank. Unlike most other “review” sites, we refuse to waver on this.
Golf Betting Sites by Event.
British Open PGA Championship.
What’s Important in a Golf Betting Site.
Selecting a new online betting site is a lot like selecting a brand new golf course to play at. How many times have you looked at the brochure or website for a course and showed up only to find that things were not what you had hoped for? The course looks beautiful online and is pushed that it has every amenity under the sun, but when you show up, it looks like a dead grass collection site.
Unfortunately, online betting sites are the same. They have a tendency to project that they are the best thing since sliced bread and then fail to live up to that image. Just like golf courses, though, they are not all bad. There are sites out there that have their act together and deliver a reliable and top notch golf betting experience.
In order to find one of these sites, you have two options. The first option is to check out one of the sites we recommended. Those sites as we stated have been thoroughly vetted against hundreds of other options and have been hand-picked to make our list. Your second option is to go it alone and scour the corners of the web.
To help with both of these options, we have outlined the important criteria for selecting a great golf betting site. If you’re taking our recommendations, you can see how we arrived at these conclusions. If you’re going it alone, you can see what you need to be on the lookout for.
Trust and Integrity.
This is number one on our list and is ALWAYS number one on our list. There is no room for error here, and we refuse to ever waiver on this (and you shouldn’t either). Many people have fears and concerns about betting online versus in a brick and mortar setting. This is completely understandable as anything new is always scary, and there is an adjustment period to get you to be able to trust it.
The fact is, though, there are sites out there that have their processes and operations dialed in and provide an experience just as safe as walking into your local casino or sportsbook to bet. The key is making sure that you are placing your bets at one of these sites. To find these sites, we look at a whole host of different factors to reach our determination.
We look at their company history, industry reputation, history of complaints, payment processors, licensing and regulation, corporate staff, and anything else we can find to help us reach our conclusion. If anything raises even the hint of a red flag, they are a no-go from us.
Betting Options.
Golf is a great sport in that there are a ton of different prop bets that are sometimes available. These can be fun bets like how many holes in ones in a tournament or bets that require skill to pick like where the cut line will be. The point is that you have a lot of options, but not all of these options are going to be offered on every site. Some sites will only offer you the ability to pick winners, and some sites will offer you this extended betting flexibility. This will be covered in-depth in the Different “Levels” of Golf Betting Sites section below.
Betting and Transaction Limits (Professional Bettors Only)
If you’re a big money bettor or someone who bets a ton for a living, you may want to make sure that the site you’re on has the right limits that you need. 99% of you reading this (including some that bet for a living) will never be affected by this. The current limits on the sites we’ve recommended are already high and should be plenty.
In the rare chance that you want to bet bigger, though, there are options. Most sites will allow you to raise the limits they have posted if you contact them. They are always accommodating of bigger players so don’t run just because the posted limits are lower than you want. Again, though, the limits are already very high on most sites, so this will probably not affect anyone reading this.
Website and User Interface.
We all know that the course layout is one of the most important factors of a golf course. The holes need to be easy to find and getting from 1 to 2 and so on through 18 should follow a logical path that doesn’t require a fold out map and GPS to get to.
The same is true for online sports betting sites. You need to be at a website that has all of the betting options laid out well, the odds easy to find, and the process to place a bet simple. It should not feel like a chore to get a bet placed. Not only would a poor user interface give you a bad experience, but it could also set you up to make mistakes and accidentally bet on the wrong golfer or wrong side of a prop bet.
Bonus Programs.
Some sites are going to offer bonus programs, deposit bonuses, and VIP programs to try and entice you to bet with them. While these are great (everyone loves free money and free stuff), they should never be a big factor in deciding where to bet. The above factors are light years more important to finding a good betting home. What good is a killer bonus program if you can’t trust the site?
What we recommend is that you definitely look at bonus programs so that you can take advantage of them, but only after you have joined a site based on the other criteria above. If you are stuck between two sites, then you should look at bonuses to help split the tie. Otherwise, just treat a bonus as an extra bonus like a cherry on top.
Different “Levels” of Golf Betting Sites.
As we mentioned a bit earlier, there are tons of different bet types available on professional golf. There are different leagues besides the PGA and LPGA as well as a myriad of options of bet types within the different leagues. However, all sites that offer golf sports betting aren’t going to offer you all of these options.
There are different levels of action offered at different sports betting sites. Some sites are only going to offer you bets on the biggest tournaments and most likely only from the PGA Tour and maybe the Ryder Cup. These sites may also only offer you the ability to bet on the winners and none of the prop bets.
The next level up of site will offer you bets on most of the tour stops on the PGA as well as probably some of the lesser known tours but again, just winners picks. The ultimate golf betting sites online (much like the ones we recommended) are going to offer you action on all the tournaments from all the different leagues. They’re going to offer you winner bets as well as all the fun and skill-based prop bets available.
With some sports, we tell casual bettors to avoid the all inclusive unless they think they can handle it because it may overwhelm them. With golf, though, we think the all inclusive sites are the way to go. Now, sites aren’t labeled with “All inclusive golf!” on the front page or anything like that. The only way to locate them is to use one of our recommendations or to look through the actual betting section of the site and see what they offer. Remember, they may not show much if there isn’t much going on so make sure to check back.
