п»їTreasure Island opens new sportsbook, discontinues app.
The Golden Circle Sportsbook and Bar can host more than 750 people, according to a release. Betting kiosks will be available 24 hours a day.
Treasure Island has opened a new expanded sportsbook but is discontinuing its mobile betting app.
The Golden Circle Sportsbook and Bar is located directly on the casino floor and can host more than 750 people, according to a release. The old sportsbook seated about 150 and was located in a far corner of the property.
The sportsbook is an expansion of the former Golden Circle Sports Bar and now encompasses almost 12,000 square feet, the release said.
Betting kiosks will be available 24 hours a day, a spokesman said.
However, mobile betting is no longer available. The Treasure Island mobile app has been discontinued, the spokesman confirmed. It has not been operational since the casino shutdown because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Treasure Island sportsbook director Tony Nevill said via text message that the app will come back at the discretion of ownership. Account holders can withdraw their money at the sportsbook, Nevill said.
The loss of the Treasure Island app and the absorption of the CG Technology and Caesars Entertainment sportsbook operations by William Hill will leave nine mobile apps available for bettors in Las Vegas: B Connected (Boyd Gaming), BetMGM, Circa Sports, Golden Nugget, South Point, Station Casinos, Westgate, William Hill and Wynn.
In the new sportsbook, food will be available from noon to 10 p.m., including appetizers, main courses and a full bar. Golden Circle has several drink specials for Saturday’s Kentucky Derby, including $10 mint juleps.
The sportsbook also features stadium-style blackjack and roulette stations.
“In wanting to provide the best viewing and gambling experience for our guests, we’ve upped the ante on our sports betting operation,” Treasure Island owner Phil Ruffin said in the release. “Now nearly twice as big as our former space and on the casino floor, we look forward to welcoming back sports bettors and satisfying their growing appetite for a truly remarkable sportsbook experience.”

Line Originator - Nevada Sportsbooks.
Looking for lines from your favorite sportsbook but can't find them on VegasInsider? Maybe the line is on VI!
Many sportsbooks do not have their own in-house bookmaker, and therefore, do not produce their own line, as that can be costly and risky. Instead, those sportsbooks partner with a line originator who creates, publishes and maintains a line for them. In the state of Nevada, the primary line originators are Boyd Gaming, Caesars Entertainment, CG Technology, Lucky's, MGM Resorts, South Point Casino, Stations, William Hill and Wynn.
There are a few sportsbooks that produce their own independent line, such as Treasure Island, Peppermill, and Westgate Superbook. All other Nevada sportsbooks use a line from one of the Nevada line originators.
Check the sortable list below to find your favorite sportsbook and see where it's lines are originated from. The odds are, you'll find it listed. And we would like to say Thank You to our regular site visitors who help to keep this list up-to-date!

Current Sports Betting.
Owned by Mirage Resorts when it opened in 1993, Treasure Island has been independently owned since 2009. It still serves as a popular tourist spot on the north central side of Las Vegas Blvd, but after closing its standout Sirens of T.I. pirate battle show that took place right on the strip, now it is relatively indistinctive. It is only going to appeal to so many locals, and the sportsbook is part of why.
Treasure Island Sportsbook.
It does an adequate job, but Las Vegas is most memorable for how far above adequacy it goes. The sound quality is solid and there is no smoking, but nothing really stands out. In addition to the ten or so normal sized TVs , there is a big screen and a giant screen , and the racebook is divided equally.
As you walk in you will see pamphlets to your left showing all the lines for that day’s action as well as those for upcoming events, futures, and whatever props that might be offered. The everyday betting lines for T.I. for any strip casino are always comparable to each other. There is no typical advantage or disadvantage to walking into a big sportsbook or a little one.
The one thing to keep in mind are the futures lines. The strip never does you any favors with these. Payouts are frequently unfairly low because the books realize most of its bettors are tourists who don’t care what they are getting paid as long as they are in action. If you want to find a better deal, you might be able to at an off strip local casino.
Size and Location.
Built horizontally, the sportsbook is relatively small. On the right side are rows of 5Г—7 leather chairs, and to the left are over 70 desk seats with their own TV. No VIP sections.
The sportsbook can be found towards the back of the casino right across from the poker room. Even though it is away from the casino floor you can still overhear some slots.
Traffic and Viewing Ability.
We got the sense that hardly about anybody comes here, which made all the cashiers available seem unnecessary. Still, since T.I. is energetic and youthful, it is reasonable to expect big turnouts for March Madness college basketball, NFL Sunday, and all other major playoff events.
The seating is close together so there isn’t a ton of walking space , but you have a clear view of everything. The betting board is conveniently spread across high up on the right side wall. There is also another small betting board behind everybody on the high part of the wall, although we can’t say we understand why.
Treasure Island also offers the ability to bet on your phone. All you need to do is open an account right inside the sportsbook. It is simple and free, and once you’re set just download the T.I. mobile sports betting app you have access to all the same lines right inside the sportsbook. Whether you are on the go or just don’t feel like waiting on long lines to bet, the app provides flexibility. The only difference is the maximum bet allowed is substantially lower, but the minimum is as well. Most sportsbooks have an app now, and some of them offer live betting which is betting on games currently in progress . However, T.I.’s does not and neither does the sportsbook.
Drinks at Treasure Island Sportsbook.
If you are looking to drink for cheap or close to free you will have to gamble at the slots, the table games, or video poker. The sportsbook used to be an easy inside track to free drinks, but those days are over. Treasure Island asks that you bet $100 on sports for every drink ticket you wish to obtain and $20 for the horses. It seems ridiculous, but clearly, all sportsbooks no matter how big or popular are only interested in treating alcohol as a thrown-in now. Doesn’t mean it still can’t be worked around though. Do your best to bond quickly with either a cashier or a cocktail server and you should be able to wind up with an extra ticket or two.
Casino at Treasure Island.
The casino floor is not enormous, but there are all kinds of slots to play and all the most popular table games. Treasure Island is solidly aesthetic, doesn’t reek of smoke, and tailors nicely to the casual gambler making $5 minimum bets available, but most often the limit will be $10.
Its standout game is not a table game, but what they call Stadium Gaming. This machine allows you play Blackjack and Roulette at the same time with live dealers. The minimums are lower, allowing $1 for Blackjack with Royal Match options, and just $3 for Roulette.
Dining and Bars.
You will find video poker bars around the casino , but none of them are nearby the sportsbook. There are also other numerous bars, lounges, and reasonably priced restaurants spread around the casino with Gilley’s BBQ perhaps being its most known one.
Regarding nearby food, the only distinct option is Richie’s Sub Shop which is right next to the poker room, and there is also a CVS adjacent to the sportsbook.
Hotel at Treasure Island.
The large hotel displays six types of suites on its home website, but if all you need is the standard room they are very nice and spacious with updated bathrooms. Go to the main site to get the guaranteed best rate, and the hotel amenities include a spa and salon, and a pool with cabanas.
Treasure Island Sportsbook Rewards.
Sportsbooks will never be known for their reward points. T.I. gives back nothing for betting sports and only 2% on horses which can be used for food. That said, it is still a good idea to swipe your card every time you bet because this way you have recourse in the event you place a winning bet and then lose the ticket. Just bring your card back and you will still be paid assuming no one already found your ticket and cashed it.
Wrap-Up.
Nothing bothered us about this sportsbook. It provided a most watchable atmosphere as it was clean, comfortable, and delivering all the main elements a sportsbook must deliver. However, from the outside Treasure Island looks like it should be impressive on the inside and parts of it are, but the sportsbook is just adequate. And adequate in this town is inadequate because the only real adequate is what is memorable. This sportsbook is not.

Treasure Island Las Vegas Upgrades Retail Sportsbook But Discontinues Mobile App.
Treasure Island Las Vegas has unveiled a dramatically upgraded retail sportsbook in advance of football season. The Phil Ruffin owned property that was once known for nightly pirate battles operates an independent sportsbook in an era when every unique set of lines is highly welcome in Nevada. At the same time, however, the property has made the highly questionable decision to discontinue their mobile betting app.
The upgraded retail sportsbook is a welcome addition and even more so when there’s tasty food in the mix. The sportsbook is expansive, weighing in at right around 12,000 square feet–presumably to facilitate ‘social distancing’–with a modernized video display wall and multiple kiosks to facilitate 24/7 betting. There’s also VIP seating, a full bar and food served from 12 noon to 10 PM daily. For now, the live betting windows will be open Monday-Thursday 9 AM to 5 PM and 9 AM to 9 PM Friday-Sunday. Ironically, the expanded sportsbook took over the space once occupied by the Corner Market Buffet which closed for good in late May.
“In wanting to provide the best viewing and gambling experience for our guests, we’ve upped the ante on our sports betting operation. Now nearly twice as big as our former space and on the casino floor, we look forward to welcoming back sports bettors and satisfying their growing appetite for a truly remarkable sportsbook experience.”
The menu for the Golden Circle Sportsbook and Bar looks pretty tasty. Check out the Linebacker Bison Burger:

TI DISCONTINUING MOBILE SPORTS BETTING APP.
Here’s where the story gets strange. In conjunction with the upgraded retail sportsbook Treasure Island is discontinuing their mobile betting app. The app hasn’t been operational since the March shutdown of the Nevada gaming industry due to the COVID-19 pandemic. TI sportsbook director Tony Nevill told the Las Vegas Review Journal that ‘the app will come back at the discretion of ownership’ which doesn’t tell us a whole lot. Account owners can withdraw their money at the sportsbook.
As the LVRJ points out, Las Vegas area sports bettors have lost three mobile apps in the past week or so:
The loss of the Treasure Island app and the absorption of the CG Technology and Caesars Entertainment sportsbook operations by William Hill will leave nine mobile apps available for bettors in Las Vegas: B Connected (Boyd Gaming), BetMGM, Circa Sports, Golden Nugget, South Point, Station Casinos, Westgate, William Hill and Wynn.
9 mobile ‘outs’ in the Las Vegas area isn’t bad but put that into context: New Jersey has 16 mobile apps and Colorado now has a dozen with more on the way. FanDuel just launched their app in Iowa giving the state a total of 8 mobile sportsbook apps. Indiana will soon have 7 with theScore Bet set to launch soon. Technically, the state of Nevada has 10 including the Atlantis Race & Sportsbook in Reno but due to the state’s outdated in-person registration requirement that requires a trip to Northern Nevada to sign up. The Silver State will likely get another mobile betting ‘out’ when Betfred Sports opens at the Virgin Hotel Las Vegas.
The TI’s decision to discontinue their mobile app is a head-scratcher. During the unprecedented two month plus shutdown of the Nevada gaming industry the only revenue was via sportsbook apps. Mobile betting was booming before the COVID-19 pandemic and will only become more popular as long as social distancing measures remain in place. In New Jersey’s July gaming revenue report mobile wagering represented right around 91% of all sports betting. In Nevada in July, mobile betting accounted for 69% of all sports betting wagers.
I’ve always liked Phil Ruffin and consider him a smart guy. Unfortunately, it looks as if he’s falling into the outdated ‘make them physically come to the property’ mindset that has dominated the gaming industry for decades. It’s a major hassle for a Las Vegas local to have to drive to a Strip sportsbook to place a bet and will be even more of one as visitor volume starts to return to normal levels. I don’t know the exact ‘locals versus tourists’ breakdown for sports betting revenue but suffice to say that there are plenty of residents in the Las Vegas Valley that bet on sports. The TI will lose a lot of that business altogether and that’s a significant amount–particularly mid-week when the visitor count drops. With no conventions coming to Las Vegas for the foreseeable future that drop will be even more severe.
Going against the inexorable march of technological progress, the prevailing industry revenue trends and the myriad issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic doesn’t strike me as a winning move. That’s what the TI is doing by mothballing their mobile sports betting app. The ratio of retail to mobile betting will always be higher in Las Vegas than New Jersey for obvious reasons–the majority of the state’s population lives in Southern Nevada and there’s a slew of ‘locals casinos’ to serve them. Even so, the revenue figures clearly indicate a strong preference for mobile sports betting and to not offer that option is a downright inexplicable decision.
