Quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will pull away from Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers to win their second straight Super Bowl, 37-27, says Madden NFL 21 ’s annual simulation. Get your bets down now!
Although unscientific — to say the least — EA Sports’ simulation of the big game™️ has been remarkably accurate, or at least lucky, over the past 17 years. Madden called last year’s Chiefs triumph too, getting the point spread (KC -1.5) and straight-up winner, but again missing the over/under (53.5, and the final came in under). Madden typically bets the over, as is the wont of a high-scoring video game, after all.
The Madden Sim is no Cray-crashing Next Gen Stats analysis — it’s some dudes in an office park in Florida running one (1) CPU-vs-CPU simulation on All-Pro/Simulation difficulty, 6 minute quarters, all sliders set to 50 — i.e., the ranked multiplayer parameters. Still, it kicks up some oddly specific predictions that we love highlighting. For example:
Mahomes’ passing line: 422 yards, four touchdowns — that would be the third-most passing yards in a single game, and there have been six performances where a QB threw four or more touchdown passes. Brady’s passing line: 332 yards, three TDs, one interception. Strong totals, but not the Super Bowl’s greatest performance in a losing effort. Third quarter, quoting from EA Sports’ release directly: “Mahomes comes out hot in the second half with a 63-yard touchdown pass back to [Tyreek] Hill, who, according to NFL Next Gen Stats, hits a top speed of 22 mph.” News flash, everyone hits a top speed of 22 mph once they get into the secondary, including my created running back. The fourth quarter is closer than the final score suggests. Tight end Rob Gronkowski (one of four Madden NFL cover stars appearing in the Super Bowl, a record) lands a touchdown pass from good bud Brady to tie the score. Mahomes responds with a game-sealing drive and 12-yard scamper for the TD. The Chiefs tack on a late field goal, but even without it, they’re clear of the real-life point spread (Chiefs by 3).
Lifetime, Madden is 11-6 against the spread, 8-9 against the O/U, and 11-6 calling the straight-up winner. A small sample size, but any Vegas tout worth his 1-900 number would be proud of that record.


Madden NFL 21 Simulation Picks Chiefs To Win Super Bowl LV.
(CBS Local)- Super Bowl LV is just days away and with it, the predictions have begun to roll in. One of the yearly traditions is EA Sports’ Madden NFL franchise running a simulation of the game and this year, they’re predicting a repeat for Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
In the game’s official simulation of this year’s matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs, Madden has the Chiefs winning 37-27 to take their second consecutive Lombardi Trophy.
In the simulation, Mahomes gets the go ahead touchdown with his legs on a 12-yard fourth quarter scramble to put K.C. on top 34-27. The Chiefs quarterback took home the MVP award in the simulation, throwing for 422 yards and four touchdowns while completing 31 of his 41 passes.
That was enough to outduel Tom Brady who completed 30 of his 44 pass attempts for 322 yards with three touchdowns and an interception.
If the Chiefs were to win, it would be the second consecutive year in which Madden’s prediction was correct as last year’s simulation had the Chiefs topping the San Francisco 49ers to win Super Bowl LIV in Miami. However, prior to last year, the Madden sim had gotten two consecutive Super Bowls wrong, predicting the New England Patriots to beat the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII and the Los Angeles Rams to beat the Patriots in Super Bowl LIII.
Now, we wait to see if EA Sports’ official prediction is right.

In the gaming world, the Kansas City Chiefs will be hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy for the second straight season.
“Madden NFL 21,” EA Sports’ pro football simulation game, has the Chiefs defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 37-27 in Super Bowl LV.
EA Sports dropped its official trailer online Wednesday, and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes won MVP honors for the second consecutive season. Mahomes scored the go-ahead touchdown with about six minutes left to play, scrambling out of trouble with a 12-yard run to break a 27-27 tie. Kansas City would kick a late field goal to ice the game.
The Madden simulation got last year’s game right, picking the Chiefs to defeat the San Francisco 49ers and crowning Mahomes as the MVP. That snapped two consecutive losses for the Madden game, ESPN reported. The game did, however, pick the New England Patriots to rally past the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI, although it did not predict Tom Brady engineering a 25-point comeback.
While Brady has impressive numbers in the “Madden NFL 21″ super simulation, Mahomes stole the show. The Chiefs’ quarterback completed 31 of 41 passes for 422 yards and four touchdowns, according to the simulation. Tyreek Hill, who bedeviled Tampa Bay during the teams’ real-life meeting earlier this season, was a force again, catching a pair of touchdown passes. Tight end Travis Kelce and Clyde Edwards-Helaire also caught scoring passes for Kansas City.
Brady completed 30 of 44 passes for 322 yards and three touchdowns, while also throwing an interception, according to the simulation. The Buccaneers’ quarterback threw scoring tosses to Chris Godwin, Mike Evans and Rob Gronkowski.
The Chiefs led 7-3 after the first quarter and 14-13 at halftime.
The trailer is narrated by “Spokesplayer,” who is actor-comedian “King” Keraun Harris, according to Forbes. Spokesplayer made his “Madden NFL 21″ debut in August 2020, according to Bleacher Report.
Spokesplayer was described in a press release as a “man who’s stepping into the spotlight and speaking up for the next generation of Madden players and NFL athletes and inspiring them to go all out in Madden NFL 21.”
His commentary is just as exciting as the flurry of offenses that “Madden NFL 21″ projects for Super Bowl LV.

The sim did get it right for Super Bowl LI, picking New England to come from behind to beat the Falcons, but the Madden sim's margin was not nearly as wide as the Patriots' historic comeback from a 28-3 deficit.

Tampa Bay scored first in the Super Bowl sim with a Ryan Succop field goal, but the game's first touchdown was a 5-yard pass from Mahomes to Edwards-Helaire to give Kansas City a 7-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter saw more action, as Brady hit Godwin for a 24-yard TD before Mahomes connected with Hill for a score. Succop made another field goal, but the Chiefs led at halftime 14-13.
