Beautiful young minds!
I always take joy in reading what my students come up with!
This year’s June examinations brought about some original,
interesting and, at times, touching stories by my Senior High
school students.
The topic of their writing task was to come up with a crime story
(related to the unit and the vocabulary at which they were being
examined) as if they had actually witnessed it!
Their imagination went wild!! Enjoy!!
Kostas’ piece of writing has some excellent use of relative vocabulary:
One night I was watching a movie when suddenly I got thirsty and went to the fridge to get something to drink. There was nothing but water and a bottle of wine. Neither of these did I want to drink. So I decided to go to the mini market down the street. I wore my shoes and I went downstairs. Before I opened the door I heard a strange sound. It was a car I had noticed since early morning moving around the block. I did not go out of the house at once. I waited. When the car made the corner I quickly went down the street. But we never heard what the reason for the murder was. The police never revealed it. But thank God, after this crime my neighbourhood was really safe. Every day and some nights cops were patrolling around. Kostas S. |
Angelos’ writing is really touching!
It was just another hot summer night that had me sitting alone in the balcony and relaxing. 21st of July 2013, 2:00 a.m. I got my dog for a walk and during our walk, I decided to go get an ice-cream. I don?t know why but this night was quite dark and the moon was hidden. Angelos S. |
Kostas’ imagination runs wild -as usual- and all we can do is try to catch up!!
Hell’s kitchen
I was walking back home from my casual walk. It was a breezy, quiet evening around 20:00. I was pretty much upset, though for no reason. My eye got caught by a huge light in an abandoned house near the old chapel. I decided to walk in and take a glance at the light. Being a man of mystery myself, I could not resist!
So, here I am walking into this horror-like house! I entered from the back door, I didn’t want to be seen by those annoying, gossiping women. As soon as I entered I heard loud talking from the upper floor but I couldn’t make out what was being said. I went up the old, rotten, wooden staircase. By that time I wasn’t scared at all. In fact, I was in a neutral state of feelings.
Now I could hear the words perfectly. I couldn’t understand them though. Yet, those words managed to make me feel a little disturbed. I went to the door where that light was coming from. The door had a scribbling on it: “Hell’s kitchen” I still remember those words. I got closer…this time I looked through the keyhole. What I saw still haunts me after 30 years! I saw five tall men wearing some black, ritual-like hoods. They were standing around a big, metallic table probably like the ones they have in morgues………….I was standing there speechless but my inner voice was screaming. One man raised a knife…..I gathered myself. I stood up and walked out. I went back home. Those people were never caught and no body was ever found!
