Project ’14-15 / Photography

This year class B dealt with photography for their Project. The title was : “Photography: pictures which haunted us”. This was a cross-curricular and practical approach of the project as you will see below.

  • On the first day they were presented with a Power Point which included some of the most influential photographs of our time.    PHOTOGRAPHY
  • Each team chose 2 of them and researched the historical background of the pictures:  time, place, reason they were taken and anything else concerning the protagonists, story and related events as well information about the photographer.
  • Each team also had to research a question. These questions were:

1. Which are the basic photographic techniques?

2. Who are the most successful photographers of our times?

3. What is the evolution of photography through the time?

4. What is the evolution of photographic equipment?

5. What is the emotional impact of photography? Can photography affect the public opinion?

  • The students prepared their word documents and their presentations which you see below.
  • Then we had a field trip to Patras (Rio bridge, marina, lighthouse area) where they brought their cameras and took many photos using the techniques they learned during this year’s project.
  • We organized and held a photographic exhibition in our school with some of their best photographs.
  • DSC_4764                                DSC_4771                                                     DSC_4777
  • I am extremely satisfied with the way the students approached the project and involved themselves in the process of photographing something other than their own selves. Some precious little talents came forward as you will see in the video below which presents the photos that were included in the exhibition! Congratulations to my project students from Varda Senior High School!!!
