Beautiful young minds II
This is the second time I choose to share some of my students’ writings. I chose three of them, because I found them both well-written and touching. This time they were asked to write about a person they admire or a person that has contributed to the world. I would like to thank my students for their heartfelt descriptions of either famous people or people close to them.
Your writings give me a pleasant and imaginative break from daily routine! Proud of you guys!
VASSILIS A. (Senior High School, class B-2016)
One of the persons I appreciate in my life is my mother. She was born in 1964 and she is mother of four children. When she was at the age of six she lost her mother and some years later she stopped going to school because she had to take up the role of the housewife as she had to care for her father and her three brothers. Then, when she was 28 years old she lost her father and after 2 years she got married. Now she has a big family with four children. She does her best every day for us, like things that other mothers do not.
The reason why I admire my mother is because even though she had a lot of difficulties in her life she is always happy and optimistic. Also, I admire the fact that she always helps poor people and generally other people.
To be honest I want to be like her because I like her way of living and I think all the people should forget the past and live peacefully with their families.

There are a lot of great people around the world. Their actions they made the world a better place, each one in a different way. One of the people that I admire a lot is Jim Morrison.
Jim Morrison was a composer/writer/singer. He was the lead singer and guitarist of the music band “The Doors”. He died at the early age of 27. With his songs he made people think more about peace and love and urged them to stop being racists. One of the most well-known songs of his band is “People are strange”.
I would like to be like him because millions of people were inspired by his songs. In my opinion, music is the best way to make people peaceful and happier. It is a way to unite people all over the world. In this similar way, the way of music, I would like to change the world. I hope one day, my songs will inspire thousands of people.

The majority of people admire a person or a group of people who have done something special in their lives. Personally, I admire my cousin Sophia. She is not a famous personality but her achievements mean a lot to me.
Sophia studies to become a doctor in a very well-known university. She always studied a lot, despite her difficulties during the course of her life. At the same time, she studies drama and music in one of the most spectacular drama schools in London. She has also managed to win the first prize in an international chemistry competition and now she is collaborating with well-known teachers. She loves whatever she does and I especially admire her stamina and willpower!
Finally, I know that her achievements might seem normal to you, but they express my dream. If you ask me”would you like to be like her?” I would surely answer YES! She is my idol and it helps me with my goals.
