ROAD TO REDUCTION
Pupils from all around Europe will learn, through a variety of activities, food saving actions, ways to transform leftover meals, cultures of each country tastes (Christmas traditions), create a school laboratory of organic recipes, tree planting (planting trees is a direct action to counteract climate change), recycling and running for a good cause with the title “let’s fight the climate change”.
The main objectives are:
– make our students and their families aware of the importance of fighting against climate change
– promote and carry out actions in school that are in line with food saving and the fight against climate change
-Create awareness about environmental issues and actions that can be taken for its protection
-Improve digital and communicative skills
-Promote creativity (Do arts and craft reusing materials).
The results we intend to achieve are:
-To make responsible use of internet, to learn and communicate with peers
-Ways to transform leftover meals, so as students and their families make verifiable changes in their daily routines to favor the care of the environment
-Take care of their surrounding nature (tree planting)
-Learn why it is important to recycle or reuse
-Create eco-friendly products (hand cream, natural garden products,…)
-Campaign in favor of running for a good cause titled “let’s fight the climate change” to reduce air pollution due to daily commuting and other energy-consuming habits.

1.Christmas Traditions/Χριστουγεννιάτικα έθιμα:
Each partner school shows what Christmas traditions they have in their country/region, creating something unique as a product (traditional sweets, decorations…). Please upload your school’s photo or video in the Bublup link. (It is similar to padlet environment. Choose the specific file and upload school’s photos or video, pressing the + button. There is a power pointwith instructions to Materials -“files”)/Κάθε συνεργαζόμενο σχολείο δείχνει ποιες χριστουγεννιάτικες παραδόσεις έχει στη χώρα/περιοχή του, δημιουργώντας κάτι μοναδικό ως προϊόν (παραδοσιακά γλυκά, διακοσμητικά…). 2.Christmas card exchange/Ανταλλαγή χριστουγεννιάτικων καρτών:
Our Christmas cards will be from Recycled Seed Paper.(Jelena Zivkovic’s idea from Serbia)
Tear up the old paper and cardboard and put it in a plastic container (for 1 A5 format greeting card, you need about 10 sheets of newsprint), pour enough water to cover the paper. Let it stand for a few hours, it can be a whole day… Then pour the mixture into the kitchen blender, if it is difficult to turn, feel free to add more water (it will be necessary if there is more cardboard in the mixture). Blend the mixture well. Place the resulting mix on a tray with a cotton cloth to absorb the excess water. Now is the time to add the flower seeds to the mixture. Then spread the mixture with your fingers on the tray and spread it in the size or shape you want. Leave it a little thinner than you want the thickness of your greeting card to be. Then, use a sponge cloth to pick up the excess water and additionally level the unevenness.
Leave it on the cloth for 24 hours to dry and the greeting cards are ready. The color will depend on the color of the paper you put on it, a lighter cardboard will give a lighter color of the recycled paper. If you want, you can add edible colors to the blender and thus additionally color the paper.
Schools that receive this kind of card, will tear it up, put it in a pot with soil in a sunny and warm place, water it regularly and wait for magic. Pupils from Gran-Canaria can create their seed cards at home and post them or just upload them.
In order to be at partner schools on time,before Christmas holidays, the cards should be posted till 20th of November/Οι χριστουγεννιάτικες κάρτες μας θα είναι από ανακυκλωμένο χαρτί σπόρων.(ιδέα της Jelena Zivkovic από τη Σερβία) Σκίστε το παλιό χαρτί και χαρτόνι και βάλτε το σε ένα πλαστικό δοχείο (για 1 ευχετήρια κάρτα τύπου Α5, χρειάζεστε περίπου 10 φύλλα χαρτιού εφημερίδων), ρίξτε τόσο νερό ώστε να καλύψει το χαρτί. Αφήστε το να σταθεί μερικές ώρες, μπορεί να είναι και μια ολόκληρη μέρα… Στη συνέχεια, ρίξτε το μείγμα στο μπλέντερ της κουζίνας, αν είναι δύσκολο να το γυρίσετε, μη διστάσετε να προσθέσετε περισσότερο νερό (θα χρειαστεί αν έχει περισσότερο χαρτόνι μέσα Το μίγμα). Ανακατεύουμε καλά το μείγμα. Τοποθετήστε το μείγμα που προκύπτει σε ένα δίσκο με ένα βαμβακερό πανί για να απορροφήσει το υπερβολικό νερό. Τώρα είναι η ώρα να προσθέσετε τους σπόρους λουλουδιών στο μείγμα. Στη συνέχεια απλώστε το μείγμα με τα δάχτυλά σας στο ταψί και απλώστε το στο μέγεθος ή το σχήμα που θέλετε. Αφήστε το λίγο πιο λεπτό από όσο θέλετε να είναι το πάχος της ευχετήριας κάρτας σας. Στη συνέχεια, χρησιμοποιήστε ένα πανί σφουγγαριού για να μαζέψετε την περίσσεια νερού και επιπλέον να ισοπεδώσετε τις ανομοιομορφίες. Αφήστε το στο πανί για 24 ώρες να στεγνώσει και οι ευχετήριες κάρτες είναι έτοιμες. Το χρώμα θα εξαρτηθεί από το χρώμα του χαρτιού που θα βάλετε πάνω του, ένα πιο ανοιχτό χαρτόνι θα δώσει ένα πιο ανοιχτό χρώμα στο ανακυκλωμένο χαρτί. Εάν θέλετε, μπορείτε να προσθέσετε βρώσιμα χρώματα στο μπλέντερ και έτσι να χρωματίσετε επιπλέον το χαρτί. Τα σχολεία που λαμβάνουν αυτού του είδους την κάρτα, θα την σκίσουν, θα τη βάλουν σε μια γλάστρα με χώμα σε ένα ηλιόλουστο και ζεστό μέρος, θα την ποτίσουν τακτικά και θα περιμένουν μαγεία. Οι μαθητές από τη Γκραν-Κανάρια μπορούν να δημιουργήσουν τις κάρτες τους στο σπίτι και να τις δημοσιεύσουν ή απλώς να τις ανεβάσουν. Για να είστε εγκαίρως στα συνεργαζόμενα σχολεία, πριν από τις διακοπές των Χριστουγέννων, οι κάρτες θα πρέπει να αναρτηθούν έως τις 20 Νοεμβρίου.

10. January’s Activities
Making compost at school-The purpose to the action is to raise awareness and inform sudents about the composting process and its benefits in order to reduce the volume of waste. Composing is a natural process that turns organic materials into a rich dark substance called compost or soil conditioner. Bacteria, fungi and other microbes are the ”workers” of composting, producing carbon dixide (CO2), heat and water as the break down the organic materials in the pile. The end result is compost (rich, dark, crumbly and odorless), perfect fertilizer for the garden. We put in the compost bin: eggshells, finelly chopped fruit and vegetable peels, coffee and tea residues, plant debris (branches and flowers, lawn, dry leaves)

11. February’s Activities
Share recipes in Story Jumper for transforming left-overs. Each school presents a picture of a left-over meal in its own page and other schools choose the one they like most, suggesting a way to transform it (take pupils opinion). Share photos of transformation in your page (pupil’s drawings, real cooking transformation),with a text, specifing which school’s recipe you transformed. Choose simple recipes with simple and easy to find ingredients (for example: boiled eggs, rice…). To succeed more impact, engage parents to try at home the transformation with their children/Μην πετάτε τα γεύματα που περισσεύουν. Μεταμορφώστε τους! Μοιραστείτε συνταγές στο Story Jumper για τη μετατροπή των υπολειμμάτων. 12. March’s Activities
Live meeting with Greece showing to other partners a simple recipe from an expert (Bath-Bombs). Partner schools execute at the same time the recipe and share photos of creating the eco-friendly product in Story Jumper. For those who can’t attend the live meeting, there is a power point with the steps,in the files of the project, so as to try to make the product with their pupils whenever it is possible/Ζωντανή συνάντηση με την Ελλάδα που δείχνει σε άλλους συνεργάτες μια απλή συνταγή από έναν ειδικό (Bath-Bombs). Τα συνεργαζόμενα σχολεία εκτελούν ταυτόχρονα τη συνταγή και μοιράζονται φωτογραφίες από τη δημιουργία του φιλικού προς το περιβάλλον προϊόντος στο Story Jumper. Για όσους δεν μπορούν να παρακολουθήσουν τη ζωντανή συνάντηση, υπάρχει ένα power point με τα βήματα, στα αρχεία του έργου, ώστε να προσπαθήσουν να φτιάξουν το προϊόν με τους μαθητές τους όποτε είναι δυνατό.

Each participating school will travel to an area of their region that they believe needs reforestation and plant trees and endemic flora to help improve the area. Β. Earth day commemoration.Participating schools play “Treasure hunt”.
The 1st country writes a riddle and the 2nd one is asked to solve it. The riddle should be simple, easy and related to the program activities. Teachers of the 2nd country hide the solution of the riddle (picture) in the school area (we may use a map to help pupils). Pupils try to find the picture. Take photos of the treasure hunt and upload them in your school’s page. The 2nd country writes another riddle and the 3rd country is asked to solve it. Please follow the order in which the countries are written. Gran Canaria pupils that work from home, can solve the riddle without searching.

Η 1η χώρα γράφει έναν γρίφο και η 2η καλείται να τον λύσει. Ο γρίφος πρέπει να είναι απλός, εύκολος και να σχετίζεται με τις δραστηριότητες του προγράμματος. Οι δάσκαλοι της 2ης χώρας κρύβουν τη λύση του γρίφου (εικόνα) στο χώρο του σχολείου (μπορούμε να χρησιμοποιήσουμε έναν χάρτη για να βοηθήσουμε τους μαθητές). Οι μαθητές προσπαθούν να βρουν την εικόνα. Τραβήξτε φωτογραφίες από το κυνήγι θησαυρού και ανεβάστε τις στη σελίδα του σχολείου σας. Η 2η χώρα γράφει έναν άλλο γρίφο και η 3η χώρα καλείται να τον λύσει. Ακολουθήστε τη σειρά με την οποία είναι γραμμένες οι χώρες. Οι μαθητές της Γκραν Κανάρια που εργάζονται από το σπίτι, μπορούν να λύσουν τον γρίφο χωρίς να ψάξουν.

Running for a good cause. Each participant organizes running or cycling with pupils and parents. Pupils may wear T-shirts or hats with the title in English: “Environment.gr, Page not found” In Greek: “Περιβάλλον.gr, Page not found”
